Friday Feature: Jus Daze – Superman Is Dead

bba4e816ded5d063824bff76c7c1eb72

Jus Daze string of releases have become more and more compelling with every track.  I’ve talked about it before, but Jus Daze is becoming a master of connecting with the audience.  Even if he narrates a tale through metaphor and imagery, the potency of the message he imparts remains the same.  Here you have a Rod Stewart infused boom-bap produced by Clipsmoke, while Jus Daze uses the story of Superman to weave a tale of love, lies, and deception.   This is really good stuff people! I can’t wait for the album, Walk Twice As Hard.

Spectac and Shakim are set to release their album, For The People, on Kevin Nottingham’s imprint, HIPNOTT Records.   And what do they do to get the people excited for the project?  They proceed to invite, Skyzoo, Warren Wint, Sha Stimuli, and Senor Kaos to get on a cut.  Yep.  That’ll get you excited.  Moment Of Truth is sponsored by the funkiness of Shakim as he crafts something memorable.

Definitely check for the album on February 19th!

Single You Out: KON Sci of MindsOne – Felt Tip

AndBeyond-Cover

I ran through KON Sci’s album, And Beyond,  once last night and I was really impressed.  There is some real intelligent lyricism on this album, and this is one of the many impressive cuts that can be found within.  As for this particular cut, I can’t do any better at describing it in this case than the PR person at Soulspazm:

The song brings to light KON Sci’s deep appreciation for his tool of creativity, his pen. Backed by a soothing soul voice sample, KON Sci expresses his admiration for his writing utensil through the use of metaphor and analogy.

Locksmith – Transitions (Video)

New Locksmith!  Yes.  The way the game is played these days, or with the amount of music I listen to, I briefly forgot that he is one of the illest spitters of his generation and possibly all generations.  His concepts and lyricism are amazing.  I also am really happy he teamed up with Khrysis for the track.  I think it shows a lot if diversity and gives him a new audience.

The Green Box is coming soon…

Note:

This is one of those reviews that I was trying to get done weeks ago and then the sickness set in and I wasn’t really good for anything.  But here I am in reasonable health to let you know about this project Rozewood concocted at the end of 2012. Rozewood you may remember had a project reviewed over a year ago entitled Neon Paradise.  That was a really solid album.

Single You Out: Jeffrey iLL – Rebels (FYR)

1068326639-1

Jeffrey iLL is another new name here on HHD, but let me tell you WHY we are featuring him.  Not too many people are putting out that dusty, jazzy hip hop vibe anymore, and if they are, they aren’t doing a good enough job.  This guy is talented.  He’s got a nice flow that just meshes with the horn on here.  It’s quality material. He’s got an EP called, Eternal Pursuit dropping in three days so if you are a hip hop purist, pick this up!

Single You Out: Apaulo Treed & Knightstalker – Defcon 2 (ft. Maffew Ragazino) (prod. by Romeo)

artworks-000038498030-fjwjce-large

Oooooh…damn…damn…love the James Bond sample that gets laced throughout the production.  And all the emcees spit some heavy bars. Apaulo Treed and Knightstalker’s album dropped yesterday, so consider purchasing this if you like those dark and heavy rhythms.  For my part,….this shit sounds tight…

Their album, The Last Line Of Defence is available as of today!
