You are know, without a shadow of a doubt, that he is going to put to rest any beat. I like how this particular production starts off a little bluesy and then transitions into the raw boom-bap. Dope.

Little Vic drops a new/old gem for the public’s consumption. Old because he made it a while ago, new because you have yet to hear it. He’s dropping the biblical, the historical, and the mythological on this joint.
Single You Out: The 17th – I Wanna Hear Me Some Me
Now this song right here is called “creative narcissism”. The 17th is guaranteed to drop songs and concepts far different than what listeners are used to hearing. The 17th would rather listen to himself flow and make music than anyone of his contemporaries and when it is this good, there is nothing wrong with that.
Single You Out: The MyNORS – Mr. Mista (ft. Nottz Raw) (prod. by DP)
I am so glad that his was released as a single off of The MyNORS mixtape, Black Lung. I am not going to have time to review this great project (and it is great) but this gives me an opportunity to put the spotlight on it somewhat. I have already started a Top 50 list for 2013 and this track is so far on the list. This reminds me of some Timbaland production meets The Beastie Boys. The guys add Nottz to the mix and there is some really great exchange. See hip hop can be fun…try it for a listen.
Sick Six & Sick Luke – A Son Is Born (Video)
This is one of those tracks that sounds better once it is given the video treatment. Every father should be able to feel this joint. It is especially impactful to me when considering my current relationship with my own son. This track is off of Sick Six and Sick Luke’s album, Pandemic.
Single You Out: Busy Bars – Got It From Here (prod. by Taba)
We featured Busy Bars before when he teamed up with EMS front man, M-Dot, Come Off Of That, over a year ago for the cut, . I was impressed then and thought I would give him a listen now. This beat by Taba (Poland) is pretty chaotic and took a minute for me to get into it but I love how he switches it up through the course of the song. The cuts by DJ Reel Drama are also quite on point. Busy Bars continues to impress with his flow and delivery. I think this would be a hard beat to ride but he doesn’t break a sweat. Solid work.
Cezar N Streets – My Only Shot (Video)
This has been sitting in my inbox for about a week. I gave it a listen and it is pretty darn good. Definitely something worthy of your attention as hip hop fans. The beat is of the dark and plodding variety which is fine as it allows the emcees to shine on their own merit. This video is from Cezar N Streets Last Of A Dyin’ Breed project.
Single You Out: Whosane – Move (prod. by Eric Lau)
Can I get a “Holy Hot Damn” for this track! Wow. This track is one of the most complete cuts I have heard this year. The beat by Eric Lau, although it has an Asian appeal to it, is other wordly. But Whosane…wow…what can I say? These are some of the best bars assemble by one man for one track. His album, Brooklyn To Cape Town is not dropping soon enough with a June 16th release date.

This is a compilation of tracks from Swerve & SYG’s Pay Day series. I am glad that they compiled this together so folks can get it all in one swoop. I am not equipped to speak on particular songs but wanted to get this up on the site so you guys could get to it.
Hopefully you have all seen my previous posts on Swerve & SYG. If you have then you already know how highly I think of their music. So from here I am going to let their Press Release spell out the nuts and bolts:
The ‘Pay Day EP’ is the 3rd project released by Swerve & SYG, the previous one being only a couple months prior with Cold Winters & Warm Whiskey 2. The ‘Pay Day EP’ was created to wrap up a Swerve & SYG series titled ‘Pay Day’ which happen to drop on the 1st & the 15th each month. The two have been releasing solo songs alternate of each other twice a month since January of this year. They have added 3 entirely new Swerve & SYG songs as well as remixed previously released Swerve songs like ‘No Lifeguard On Duty‘ & ‘Somethings Gotta Give‘ to include SYG.
