Lord Willin and Big O tag team over this 4th Assassin banger. The track gets it’s title from former WWF manager, Bobby “The Brain” Heenan. I am not sure how this title is derived from the song because I don’t remember much about Heenan. But who cares? This track is dope. 4th Assassin always brings out the best in emceees (ala Big O’s last album, Gravel Engravement).
I don’t know what this says about the music scene: Little Vic’s one minute freestyles make most other artist’s music look paltry comparison. So either Vic is a microphone savant or the industry is soft right now. I think it’s a combo deal. DJ Supa Dave is on the boards.
DJ Bless outdid himself with this production! The chorus sounds like it was sung by a demonic doll. It just has this very creepy element to the track. For their part, The Rhythm Writers do not tread lightly and drop a nice sequence of bars. The combination of DJ Bless and The Rhythm Writers proves once again to be a win for hip hop heads.
Damn. This is the very definition of a ‘banger’. Ayden has these drums banging hard and Famoso and Shaz Illyork do not fail to deliver some of that indelible NYC flavor. I love this material.

New track from the collective known as Coarse Company, which is comprised of Koncept and Tenacity. And for these Bohemians the sky is the limit when rocking over this uncredited (as far as I can tell) production. The two emcees really blend their unique styles for the sake of making some good hip hop. That’s selfless.
Their project, Same Page, drops for free on December 17th (a mere day away).
I am really enjoying this track from Lord Lhus & PSL. The production from Dirty Dike is phenomenal. There is something enchanting about the female vocals in the chorus that compliments the tough bars from the emcees. The video also has a lot of artistic value with things as simple as lighting and transitions.

What first drew me to Jus Daze was not his victories on the battle circuit. It wasn’t an appearance on a late night talk show. Nor was it because he was the “bow legged bandit”. I rarely even look at the attached pictures of emcees that are sent in submissions. I listen to Jus Daze’s music because he is relate-able to his audience and I connect with his lyricism, his stories, and his message. It’s intelligent and tangible music.
Walk Twice As Hard is loaded with powerful lines and stories but it also lends itself to shear artistry. We have talked about the track Superman Is Dead previously but I can’t discuss the album without revisiting this song. It’s a track that puts a more mortal twist on the supernatural story of Superman and the characters associated with him. It’s a story of love, jealousy, and betrayal. It’s an extremely creative track. I am really not sure how the writing process develops for a song like this. When listening to a track of this nature, it begs the question: What other tales and concepts lie in the confines of the mind of Jus Daze?
DJ Low Cut was the first producer we ever highlighted here on HHD and it’s only right that we continue to show our support. This project is interesting because it focuses on the samples and music that Low Cut procured for a particular song. Each track gets a brief reference point, so that the listener can hear the music he drew inspiration from.

Rahim Samad is one of my favorite new names for 2013. I just got put onto him a couple of months ago and he hasn’t disappointed since. This video, and more so the song, are just a reflection of the overall talent that I hope to hear with the coming of his new album, Travel Properly: Motion Picture Soundtrack.
