Single You Out: Serge Severe – That Product

Serge Severe is an artist that a decade ago used to hit me (and we would feature) EPs on a fairly consistent basis. Really talented emcee who made great music out of Portland at the time if I recollect. And then as life moves, priorities shift, I didn’t hear much over the last several years. But he just sent me his new SXLXMXN laced track, That Product, which really showcases that edge, energy, and talent I came to really appreciate all that many years and releases ago. Really great to hear from him again.

Single You Out: JR Swiftz x Jamil Honesty x Jay Royale – The Chipped Tooth Era

Just yesterday, I made it a Jay Royale listening experience…listening to four of his albums and walking away with a couple of thoughts 1) This guy is the embodiment of what Nas, Mobb Deep, and KGR were to hip hop in the 1990s. That pen game, flow, and ear for beats just takes me back to that era with a new level of lyricism. 2) Damn I wish I could get a Jamil Honesty and Royale collab album! Those two sound really nice on a a track together.

Well, today I must have manifested something, because while it is not an album, it IS a JR Swiftz laced heat rock that features both emcees. Again taking you back to the era where lyricism and a finely crafted beat mattered the most.

Jus Daze – Battle Axes (Video) (Prod. by Brutal Caesar)

Here is an artist that you may not be overly familiar with but has one of my favorite tracks ever in his catalog, Andy Dufresne. I’ve been waiting for Jus Daze to hit back with something for some time. And after a hiatus from music for a while, and then a couple of releases, here it is in Battle Axes produced by Brutal Caesar. This is THAT pen game and tenacity I’ve wanted to hear and you can here the sharpness in the turn of phrase. Definitely something to wet your appetite and see what this man is capable of. Looking to hear more from Daze like this.

Single You Out: M-Dot – Seein’ Em (ft. Chaundon) (Prod. by Es-K)

My guy M-Dot passed this along to me and the first thing that struck me in this title was…CHAUNDON! It’s been a long time since I have heard him on a joint and he does not disappoint. It took me a second to figure what was going on verbally here, but I am a little slow on the uptake on the weekends. But M-Dot and Chaundon tackle alphabetic gymnastics, withe former taking on the letter C in his verse, and the latter utilizing the letter M. Quite dope as Es-K creates this fun and creative production. LP2 on the cuts!

Substance810 & Clypto – Gargoyles (ft. O The Great & DJ Grazzhoppa)

If this song doesn’t get you hype about the new album from Substance810 and Clypto, I don’t know what quite would do the trick. This joint is a smash! The production got’s some street Phantom Of The Opera organ vibes going and with DJ Grazzhoppa on the cut, this joint is a direct hit, don’t miss! Love the ODB sample mixed in, and then the smooth yet sharp deliveries from Substance810 and O the Great really compliment not only the track but each other. Love this joint!

Check the album, Wise Words, out now!

Rim & Eddie Kaine – Fender Bender (Video)

Chemistry is a theme this week in the music that we are promoting and who displays better chemistry than Rim and Eddie Kaine? The emcee know how to trade bars and verses seamlessly and honestly no one is really on their level. Bhramabull produces this along along with the entire 5 Dolla Holla release with Rim. Definitely high octane joint, and if you clash with these artists, best believe it just won’t be a fender bender.

Daniel Son & Futurewave – Stone Cold (Video)

Daniel Son & Futurewave are the best combo out right now in contemporary hip hop. When they link, magic happens, and great music follows. When they dropped The Pressure Cooker, in 2018 I was floored. That album is to me a personal classic, and they strike back in 2024 (a few releases in between) with their new release, Bushman Bodega. They have a sound together that cannot be denied. And on Stone Cold, you can hear that chemistry bubble. Futurewave laces a special concoction for his emcee that has so many dope and interesting elements while being subtle. And as has been said throughout his entire career, Daniel Son, is always in the pocket with his bars and illustrious pen.

….like a young Gordon Ramsey, give em’ hell in the kitchen.

XP The Marxman & Body Bag Ben – Good Times, Bad Times (Video)

Body Bag Ben and XP The Marxman are not afraid of a little dirty work. As a matter of fact, these guys in general know work. They both have insane work ethics when it comes to putting out a dope product, and here the bring you the title track from their new project, Good Times, Bad Times. And they put the wild west vibe in action as Ben gets that harmonica sample going over these drums that creates an even grittier vibe while The Marxman familiarizes people with his surroundings. This joint does not miss. Cop the record!

Single You Out: Eyeree Beats – Master Seminar (Ft. Jay Royale, Snotty & Supreme Cerebral)

Again, not an “official” single but I really wanted to share and spotlight this track from Eyeree Beats project, .Wav Gawd. Master Seminar is another tough track this year with some serious hitters on the mic. Jay Royale, Snotty, and Supreme Cerebral, hop on some intoxicating production from Eyeree and leave those scorching sixteens. This joint is simply bulletproof and I hope you enjoy and cop the project.
