I saw Starvin’ B throw this track up on Twitter and I am all about posting his music. Unfortunately the track is five minutes long with him only rhymin’ over the first half of it. It could have used a little more Starvin’ but as it is, I’ll take some bars over no bars.
Single You Out: Serge Severe – Make It (prod. by Stewart Villain)
It’s been a bit since we have heard a project from Serge Severe but things are about to change. His latest track, Make It, takes you through his journey as an artist. From small town to worldwide, Severe has made some serious strides and you will feel the full breadth of his capabilities come the fall when he releases a much anticipated project.
Production on this joint from Stewart Villain.
Single You Out: Donnie Darko – Death Trap (prod. by DJ Bless)
Donnie Darko and DJ Bless are back with a vengeance with this track Death Trap. I mean…..good gawd…Darko puts together two verses that are meant to annihilate anyone in his path. DJ Bless throws that boom bap on top of that enchanting organ and you have one of the most fire tracks in 2016.
I need an album fellas!
Bully Camp – Blood Clot (Video)
Bully Camp is a collective coming out of Detroit who is delivering unrelenting realness. The collective includes, Suicide Kings, Aztek the Barfly, Foulmouth, Metasyons, and Jake Knew. This beat and these bars are just plain tough, and the Fred Durst line made me chuckle a bit.
Make sure you check their new project, Killer Apes.
Aye Wun – Recognize Ya Saints (Video)
Here’s some new music from Aye Wun, from his forthcoming album, The Way Of The Bolo. Aye Wun continues to deliver crisp, yet gritty lines, while producer Matt Kuartz, opts to give the track a dusty jazz vibe with the horns and piano loops.
Aye Wun is one of a literal handful of artists who continues to make boom bap the way it was intended.
The new project drops June 8th.
Single You Out: Spic Academy – Tamales
The homie Godilla put me onto this new illness from his new group, Spic Academy. The group consists of emcees, Adrian Adonis and the aforementioned Godilla, along with producers JBL The Titan and DJ Rybe.
Word is out that the group has an EP in the works, and the proof is in the pudding, so if you feel this track is ill, undoubtedly you are going to feel the project.
Skeezo – No Seeds (Venom Remix) (Video)
Skeezo releases a video from his new project that we featured here a few days ago, Fouls and Free Throws. The vibe is mellow and chill and the lyrics are more of a retrospective variety. Definitely check the video and the dope project.
Freestyle – Choose From The 3 (Video)
Freestyle (from the Arosnists) is making some new music that I absolutely have to share with you . Down to the core we all have to be true to who we are. If we try and become someone else, eventually our true colors shine. And more than likely we are the ones who get in our own way. Embrace the identity and persevere…
Scribbling Idiots – Distracted (Video)
Are we missing out on life with all the distractions that surround us? Is it the TV and the movies? Is it the computer? Is it the drugs and the addiction?
There’s too much going on so we forget what we are capable of. Scribbling Idiots hit us with more thought provoking music from there soon to be released album, Good Mourning Morning.
Single You Out: Eastkoast x Phalo Pantoja – Where Eva Ya From
I was kinda holding on to this cut a little longer than necessary just to keep shining some light on Eastkoast and Phalo Pantoja’s project, Merciless Beauty. That album is out now and it something beautiful to behold. It’s lyricism that you can sink your teeth into and music that you can vibe to. It’s perfect synergy. Where Eva Ya From is indicative of the greater movement.
