Single You Out: Wordworth x Sam Brown – Hero (ft. Last Emperor)

Wordsworth links up with The Last Emperor for the single, Hero, off of the forthcoming album, Our World Today. The album is Wordsworth’s collaboration with producer Sam Brown. This track musically sounds like a blend of 80s electronica and boom bap hip hop. There’s just something unique about the pulsing synth when combine with the sample that’s being used in the chorus. And who better for Wordsworth to team up with with for a track like this other than The Last Emp who is known for his Secret Wars cuts from the early 2000s?

Album dropping August 11th.

H3RO – Tragic H3RO (Video)

I got put onto H3RO by checking Supastition’s twitter feed for a minute. He received a shout from DJ Sav One and that praise was duplicated by a few more individuals. So here we are…this kid is talented…extremely talented. The wordplay and sentence synergy (okay, I made that phrase up) is really on point. I can only hope that this buzz builds and he continues to receive a greater venue to share his talents with the world.

Peace!

Point Nine – Gotham City (ft. Masta Ace) (Video)

This joint from Point Nine is legit! The production from Taymak had me instantly nodding my head. It’s got that ‘Indian Snake Charmer’ vibe to it combining a Bollywood headliner with hardcore boom bap. Masta Ace then imparts words of wisdom from NYC with the knowledge of a mentor while Point Nine executes the vision in the streets of Gotham.

The Return of the Point drops sometime in the fall. Don’t even suggest you’re not the least bit curious after hearing this joint.

Single You Out: Supastition – Thanks, Ghost

Supastition is putting together a monthly series called Solitaire, where he will release a song that he alone produces, writes, records, and does the graphic design for.

For the most part, I don’t mess around with these series type projects because they are hard to keep up with, but I do appreciate the entire discography of Supastition. So I am going to give this one a go.

On Thanks, Ghost, Supa pays homage to Ghostface Killah’s storytelling ability while narrating a couple of his own. He flips on a couple of events that occurred in his life while listening to tracks from the Wu-Tang vet. Pretty clever if you ask me.

Take a listen and pass it on!

Single You Out: The Fraternity – Watchers On The Wall (Trey G x Sleep TF x Jus Ra)

Oh shit! It’s been a few years but now we finally get a Fraternity project. The team looks like it has changed up a little bit with the emcees on the Dark Arts Of The Iron Age. But the illness is the same! The production throughout the project is dark yet knocks pretty hard. The lyricism is extremely well crafted by each emcee yet they each maintain a unique style.

This track has a Game Of Thrones appeal to it as do some of the others. Straight illness! Check the full album and pay what you want! I dropped some cheddar on it.

Note:

I waited for this album for three plus years from Alpha Faktion. Their EP, Truth, Lies, & Audiotape is a staple in a very crowded iTunes Library. So when Azwun, Kraze, and DJ Enyoutee finally dropped their new project, Creative Control my expectations were extraordinarily high. But this is what the team did in the process of making this album while I waited anxiously: They made something that was timeless.
