EMS team back in effect again with Mayhem and Jerz revealing a new video from MayJerzachusetts Island which is their latest mixtape. Joining Mayhem for some verses are his compatriot Revalation and Joey B. The beat is hype and soulful. You should check this project…
Emilio Rojas – Whisper (Video)
Emilio Rojas and Court Dunn team up once again for a video of a cut off of Rojas’ forthcoming album, No Shame…No Regrets. I love the twisted macabre of this song.
Sean Price – Haraam (Video)
A day in the life of Sean P (plus a body int he trunk)! That’s what we get from P’s latest video, Haraam, which is a bonus track off of his latest album, Mic Tyson. Also, it goes without saying that anyone who can mention apl.de.ap and Idi Amin in the same verse has the Midas touch when it comes to mics…agreed?
Ill Bill – When I Die (Video)
Ill Bill reminiscences, and waxes poetic about the death, the afterlife, and the ones he loves. When someone like Ill Bill does a song like this, I think the emotion really connects the music to the listener. He normally drops tough verses but every once a while he puts out a song that leaves himself wide open. Dope material.
This song will be coming off of Bill’s next effort…The Grimy Awards.
Norman BA$E – Haunted Carnival (Video)
Norman BA$E goes a little ‘Psycho’ on this track. Good to hear some new music with his baritone bravado. I believe big things are afoot for the emcee.
The Masterminds – Invisible World (Video)
The Mastermind’s videofy (my own word) yet another track from their recent re-emergence, Giant Antlers. This video is probably the cream of the crop. I really like the concept to go along with the song. Highly inventive. I wish my copier at work did something this interesting.
Rome Clientel – My Inner War (Video)
One of the best tracks from Rome Clientel’s latest EP, My Inner War, gets the well deserved video treatment. Kount Fif created this stark beat which goes hand in hand with Clientel’s lyricism.
If you haven’t checked my review of The Empire 2: The Battlegrounds please do so. If you favor that NYC rawness this will be for you.
Jus Daze – Music Box (Official Music Video EXTENDED)
My inbox has a 90% failure rate. That means nine out of every ten submissions are straight bunk. But today, the artist Jus Daze made opening and sifting through the inbox worth it. When you listen to his verses you understand that “he just gets it”. His lyrics and rhyme schemes indicates that this guy is on some other ish, but it’s the amount of heart he puts into his music that separates him from other artists I have heard. With that being said, Music Box, is a powerful song. So spread the word…pass this post…his video around. I don’t want it to go viral…I want it to go epidemic. Oh…and if you just want to hear the song and the actual video, progress it to about 4:08 mark.
Billy Ballantine – No Holds Barred (ft. Godilla, Tone Liv and DJ TMB) (Video)
Now you are going to need to know some wrestling references in order to understand the lingo. Luckily, I am so equipped. The beat on this track and while I am not familiar with Ballantine, I am certainly familiar with Godilla and Tone Liv. Ballantine certainly holds his weight on the track.
JD Nero & Tribeca – The Box (ft. Lisa Denise) (Video)
Possibly one of the most innovative videos done this year to go along with the fact that it s a great song. JD Nero and Tribeca drop verses that show that they’re not going to be force fed the ideas proposed by the media over some nice production from Daveytree.
This song can be found on the compilation album, Audiowear.
