P.SO just recently dropped the album, The Gateway To Greatness, which was worth every moment of anticipation. It had been a while since he had released some new solo work and was really happy to see it all come together like that. I hope to review the album soon, but in the mean time check this video.
Ill Bill – Exploding Octopus (Video)
I personally love how Ill Bill drops knowledge. He can send me on a journey to find out more information on a specific topic just from hearing his music. In this case the topic is the Unabomber also known as Ted Kaczynski. There’s not too many people who can take a topic, expound upon that topic from an intellectual perspective, and get their listeners to delve in with them. But that’s Ill Bill for you…
The Grimy Awards coming….
Dirt Platoon – Better (Video)
This is a track from DJ Brans and Dirt Platoon’s EP from last year, Start Ya Bids. It’s a dope project and this song is indicative of why. Although the video’s backdrop is simple, I thought the cinematography is pretty dope. You definitely needed to be checking for this duo and the producer.
Locksmith – Be Free (Video)
This Locksmith album is going to be dope! Ill let you all know as soon as I have a date for THE GREEN BOX. This track narrates the trials and tribulations of a young lady from the third person. I like this track also from the vantage point that it shows yet another dimension to Locksmith’s expanding portfolio.
Paradime – Thought I Lost It (Video)
Paradime is one raw spitter! I have been checking for him since he dropping Breaking Beauregard, last year or the year prior (can’t remember). Thought I Lost It is not be found on any project and is a stand alone track to wet the appetites of fans. Really dope music. The track has excellent production concocted by Peace Of Mind. You can also download the song if you like it.
Caucasian – Boom Bap Blueprint (Video)
Alright, I live in Texas and when I think of hip hop music, I am not exactly thinking the Pan Handle area but you know what, Caucasian (who hails from Lubbock) can put it down. He’s got that classic flow that’s well, associated with boom bap. He sounds like he’s directly out of 1996 with his voice (that is a compliment). The production from Sivey has a definitively bluesy feel that is reminiscent of some Stevie Ray Vaughan guitar licks.
Caucasian’s album, Diggin’ The Shelf, is hitting stores soon…
The Underachievers – The Mahdi (Video)
I am really feeling the vibe off of this record. It’s the epitome of smooth. The Underachievers remind me a little of that Detroit crew, Clear Soul Forces in their style and knack for jazzy beats. You can’t go wrong with the content, nor the lyricism.
They have a mixtape dropping this Friday entitled, Indigoism.
LordWillin’ – Soul Search (Video)
This submission was buried in my SPAM folder but I resurrected it and brought it to light. LordWillin’ was a familiar name. I know I have heard him on a track or two but right now I can’t place it.
At any rate, he’s got a nice flow and it’s definitely something the readership here is going to like. Also, his new street album, The Warrior Class is available for free download. On first glance, that looks pretty dope.
Locksmith – Transitions (Video)
New Locksmith! Yes. The way the game is played these days, or with the amount of music I listen to, I briefly forgot that he is one of the illest spitters of his generation and possibly all generations. His concepts and lyricism are amazing. I also am really happy he teamed up with Khrysis for the track. I think it shows a lot if diversity and gives him a new audience.
The Green Box is coming soon…
