This has been sitting in my inbox for about a week. I gave it a listen and it is pretty darn good. Definitely something worthy of your attention as hip hop fans. The beat is of the dark and plodding variety which is fine as it allows the emcees to shine on their own merit. This video is from Cezar N Streets Last Of A Dyin’ Breed project.
Poe Mack – Mistaken Fortune (ft. Rhaaz) (Prod by D.R.U.G.S. Beats) (VideO
Wow. This is just plain good music. There is a lot to love about this track. D.R.U.G.S. Beats puts together a dandy of a beat that sounds like it was based in piano bar. Poe Mack rides the beat effortlessly, keeping his head in the game and his eyes on the prize. Rhaaz puts the icing on the cake with some perfectly laid vocals. This was orchestrated really well to say the least. Don’t you agree?
Stryfe and Marc Byrd – Organ Donor (ft. Miz Korona & Skorpion) (Video)
I missed this one as it came straight from the butcher’s shop. Stryfe authors up a certified banger with an assist from Miz Korona. Some great lines embedded in these flows and I am looking forward to Stryfe’s project dropping come some time in May. I hope to get a solid date on that soon.
If anyone at all it not up on Local-Mu12 artists they need to get familiar because it’s this camp that’s set itself apart from the others starting last year.
Ivory Gates – The Wonder Years (Video)
I am really not sure who comprises Ivory Gates but I like the sound. I am also not sure about the concept of a “Video EP” but I suppose in a world of cookie cutter emcees/producers any differentiation is good.
Mayhem & Jerz – You May Not Understand (ft. Tribeca & EK) (Video)
New video from Mayhem and Jerz’s MayJerzachusetts Island project. Jerz give this track the bluesy touch withe the production. Tribeca, EK, and Mayhem make the most of the dope beat and rock it proper. Check out this mixtape when you have a moment. It’s worth the time but maybe you weren’t meant to comprehend it…
Phene – Obliged (ft. Maffew Ragazino) (Video)
Phene’s God On A Greyhound has been out for a long minute now so seeing this video was a surprise to me. A pleasant surprise. God On A Greyhound is a beast of an album that dropped a couple of years ago so the visual treatment for this track is past due to say the least. But I’ve seen Phene’s name pop over the course of the last few months so maybe word is getting around about the man’s talent. Quan is responsible for the production and Ragazino needs no introduction.
Locksmith – Bear With Me (prod. by Mike TopNoch) (Video)
Nobody does real-life-shit better than Locksmith. He is able to touch on topics that people can relate to and gets personal like no other. His music is probably the best demonstration of how powerful and moving hip hop can be.
His album, The Green Box, is going to drop May 7th.
Mic Beatz of Uzual Suspectz ft. Blaq Poet – Freedom Of Speech (Video)
Mic Beatz drops bars accompanied with Blaq Poet. I saw Blaq Poet was on the track and thought to myself: “If Blaq Poet took part in the cut then this guy, Mic Beatz must be decent.” He’s better than decent. He’s got a nice flow and dope delivery. This track is off of the Murder He Wrote album which I am guessing has not dropped as I can not find it on the internet. If any one knows differently, hit me up.
R.A. The Rugged Man – The People’s Champ (Video)
I have always loved R.A. The Rugged Man but as the years have gone by I feel like he has just gotten better and more polished. A consummate emcee. This track is produced by Apathy who has been on a tear lately (see the Demigodz album review). R.A. The Rugged Man showcases his dojo which includes every fight style imaginable, including, but not limited to, Watermelon Slicing and fighting with chainsaws. All standard fair. Legends Never Die is going to drop on April 30th and we are going to want to be looking out for that.
I’ll rip out your windshield and shit on your dashboard
No doubt.
