Ceasar – Not More Than A Child (Video)

Somebody attempted to promote this on my “About” page which is kind of irritating (c’mon, just email me) but I saw that Anno Domini did the production so I thought I would give it a listen.  This is a really dope and powerful cut.  Caesar really ran with this beat and concept.   The lyrics involve the cyclical nature of violence in families.  Sons and daughters learn behaviors from their parents and then incorporate it into their lives.   Also, whoever directed this video was a real genius,  I think this story and concept was brought completely to life by the camera work and transitions.  Really good job.  If you are digging this track and want to hear more from Caesar, he has a new mixtape out (which I can’t find a link to easily) While We Wait.

Virtuoso – If You Lost Someone (Prod by Snowgoons) (Video)

Virtuoso releases a cut and video for his departed friend, Eric.  First off the song is touching.  If you listen to the verses, Virt gives you a glimpse into the friendship and the inspiration of his partner.  The second thing that hits you is the fact that in the video he invites Eric’s younger sister to reminisce on camera.  I think that makes the song all the more personal.

But lets not get it twisted, Virt’s new album,  CoVirt Ops: Infantry is for the most part about banging beats and tough rhymes.  Make sure you cop that.

Ruste Juxx – Everyday Hustle (Video)

Ruste Juxx is gearing up to release his new project entitled, Ready To Juxx, which is a reinterpretation of Biggie’s classical album, Ready To Die.   Everyday Hustle is the first shot fired from that project.  Ruste Juxx (Artist Of The Year 2012)  continues to perform at a high level so I have no doubt that the new album will be exceptional.   It has to be if you are stepping where Biggie once tread.   The album is slated for a September 24th release.

YC The Cynic – Murphy’s Law (Video)

Is it the de-evolution of society?  Sure looks like.  YC The Cynic is a smart guy and that really shows in the depth of the music that he is able to create.  The “Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha” in the background gives the track a more maniacal sound.

I have always liked YC The Cynic but I am pretty sure this is going to be his best project to date.  Both of the cuts I have heard previously have been creatively dope.  GNK drops August 26th.

Bodega Brovas – Getting It (Video)

It really is good to see these guys back doing the art.  I thought they were supposed to drop an album soon after they dropped the mixtape, Fancy Anthrax.   That never transpired and I was wondering what happened to the crew.  It’s good to hear new music.  This song is uplifting to me.  It makes me feel good about hip hop.   Each emcee has a unique style and approach giving flavor.   And I have to give props where props are due.  A bad hook can ruin some dope verses, but the woman, Keva Soullily killed it.

You can download the Bodega Brovas new EP, Believe In Bodega, at their website.
