The name Swab should be synonymous with dopeness and quality music. The producer has collaborated and laid soundscapes for some of the most talented names in today’s hip hop. I have never heard him deliver anything less than stellar. And now he’s got a new project coming out next Friday called, The Spy Ring. I can’t wait for this. And after hearing this single you will know why. The Manual starts out with a scintillating string sample and then those drums drop heavy as emcees Josiah The Gift and General Backpain unleash tightly woven lyricism sixteen bars at a time.
Rasheed Chappell – Mascots (Video)
Rasheed Chappell has a new project on his hands entitled, Sugar Bills. Mascots, is the most recent video single from that joint, and as you can hear, this hits hard. The beat from The Arcitype tells you from the jump that something wicked approaches. It’s got a very menacing flair to it, that I really feel, and love the Ed OG sample. And Chappell is a microphone professional who flips rhymes seemingly effortless over the beat. A union of dopeness here!
Single You Out: Obnoxious – Powerful Forces (ft. Rakaa Iriscience)
New single from Obnoxious, featuring Rakaa Iriscience. Powerful Forces actually has a early Dilated Peoples or Swollen Members vibe with this production. Definitely got some high energy and really if I see Rakaa’s name attached to anything, I am going to check it. Severely underrated. But both emcees attack this track in a professional fashion.
Single You Out: Pawz One – Wage War (ft. Ruste Juxx and Copywrite)
New banger from Pawz One accompanied on the mic by Ruste Juxx and Copywrite. Produced by Preed One, this joint isn’t dark and grimy, but more uptempo yet it still knocks those speakers out! Very reminscent of some late 1990s or early 2000s posse cuts. Really dope song for you to be nodding your head to. The venerable Tone Spliff is on the cuts!
Single You Out: Reignmakers – Eye of the Storm

New project out from Reignmakers and I really wanted to showcase something from the project because it really does knock considerably hard. I chose the title track, Eye of the Storm, to share because the dark bass, subtle piano loop, and razor sharp bars, typify what these guys are about. Definitely check it out.
