Today I am proud to bring you one of the most innovative talents in hip hop today, The 17th. I have been literally amazed with the concepts and quality of his music so it was only natural to ask him a few questions. As a member of the collective Local-MU12 his name is gaining more and more exposure, or notoriety, whichever you may prefer. Look for The 17th to become a household name in the homes of every hip hop head very soon. Enjoy The Interview!
Artist Spotlight: Skeezo
Last year was when I first became acquainted with Skeezo’s music. My initial feeling was that this guy was bringing back that NYC hardcore rhyming that groups like Mobb Deep and MOP made prevalent back in the 1990s. The dude’s lyrics hit like a hammer and he is unafraid to spit those street mentality rhymes in a world that more appreciates the candy coated genre.
Last year he and I briefly touched on a showcase on HHD for his talents and with his album, Face Value looming next month, we felt it was the perfect opportunity for new fans to get to know that man behind the music.
So peep this interview and make sure you cop his album in March. There’s some serious heat to occur.
Artist Spotlight: Godilla (2012)
This monthly artist’s spotlight features none other than Godilla! I am excited about this feature as I have been following this artist for quite some time. When he released his second album, Jaguar Paw, I didn’t know what to expect. But after listening to that project not so many years ago, I knew that he was about high lyrical content, boom bap beats, and an appreciation for the art of being an emcee.
So without further ado, I bring you our spotlight on Godilla! Make sure you check him out on Twitter and Facebook, and support his projects, both past and future.
Artist Spotlight: Serge Severe (2012)
Usually when I hear an artist for the first time I am rarely left with an impression. I would say less than 20% of artist submissions wind up on HHD nonetheless stay in constant rotation in my iTunes folder. Serge Severe does both…constantly.
Serge Severe is the epitome of consistency when it comes to not only bringing quality rhymes, but also quality music. He has come out with project after project of dope material yet I feel not enough people know about this man’s talent.
He agreed to answer some questions for this feature and I hope you take the time to read it and peep his music. The man is a great talent…
Interview: Devine Carama (2012)
I am honored and privileged to bring you guys the thoughts of criminally slept on artist, Devine Carama. I was listening to his latest album, Heart Of A King, and I thought that the album was so insightful and different that I wanted to see if I could get him to elaborate on some items through an interview of some sort. Lucky enough for us all, he obliged.
Be sure to cop both his albums, Blood Of A Slave and Heart Of A King at your earliest and support good music.
Interview: Awkword (2012)
Awkword has a lot on his mind these days. He has been very busy pushing his music from the forthcoming album, World View. He has released single after single building the buzz for his 100% for charity project, letting us know, it’s not all about the Benjamins.
Awkword is a social advocate and a musician. With each release he puts out it becomes more and more apparent that his name deserves to be recognized for the talent he possesses. But more than that, Awkword is a son, a son who lost his mother earlier this year. He talks below about the special relationship he shared with his mother and his music. Enjoy…
Interview: UllNevaNo (2011)
Hip Hop is probably the most dynamic form of music right now. Albums and mixtapes get dropped almost on a daily basis. New artists are emerging and then fading away as quickly as they came. This leads me to bring you HHD’s latest artist spotlight on, Baltimore’s native son, UllNevaNo, so you don’t forget the name. I caught wind of his latest single, Hand Movements, and was instantly impressed. So just like I got put onto the man, so I put you on. This artist is not to be slept on and will not just be another flash in the pan. So enjoy the interview and then check his music.
Interview – K-Beta (2011)
I recently had the opportunity to ask some questions to an artist from the DMV who I think released one of the best album thus far in 2011. K-Beta has been paying dues in hip hop and in life. His album, Inglorious Beta, is a must listen for any hip hop fan. As an emcee, his skill knows no bounds. As a man, he resides in the same struggles and successes that we do. I encourage you to check out the album and also check out what the man has to say about music, the DMV, and life in general.
Interview: IDE (of Creative Juices Music) (2011)
Creative Juices is one of the preeminent crews/labels in independent hip hop. Their discography is constantly growing. The roster of artists is getting bigger and better. Their reputation in the game is solid among both fans and contemporaries. Most importantly, they are associated with quality. And while Creative Juices is a collective effort, one man has used his vision to create an indelible imprint on the label. IDE has been the driving force for making Creative Juices Music what it is today. He is a man who has sacrificed a lot for his dream that slowly but surely is being realized. Oh and did I forget to mention he’s a dope artist?
Check the interview to find out where CJM has been, where they are at, and where they are going…

Interview: L*Roneous (2011)
L*Roneous blessed me with an opportunity to share a part of his journey both musically and personally. L*Roneous has been someone I respect more so as a fan than any other role I play. He was putting out music at a time in my life when perhaps it mattered most. His intelligence, voice, and consciousness resonate with me today in both former and current projects. I hope you all get an opportunity to listen to this emcee’s exceptional talent through his equally important message. I recently reviewed his latest album, Notes Of The Righteous Outlaw, and it certainly is one of the best 2011 has to offer. This interview has been a long time coming, so without further ado…
