Joell Ortiz – Anxiety (Video)

When artist’s touch on the vulnerable side of humanity with their music it does something special for the listener.  It creates an instant bridge between the artist and the fan.  I can see this happening over and over again with this track, Anxiety, from Joell Ortiz.   He relays what it is like to live life in a state of constant apprehension and all the signs and feelings it incorporates. He also reflects on how dismissive people can be of the topic.

This track is one of the strongest of the year in my estimation as Nottz does his usual remarkable when melding samples, drums, and instrumentation.

Powerful.

We have a couple of the illest emcees, each representing one side of the continent. Certified legends in Planet Asia representing the west coast, and Milano Constatine repping the east coast.   And together they bring out the best of hip hop from the perspective of any coastline.  Brought to you by DJ Enyoutee, Asia and Constatine each rep their unique styles to the fullest over the track Milano Medallions.

Ruste Juxx & Trillmatic – The Most Dominant (Video)

There is really nobody wreaking more havoc in 2019 than Ruste Juxx.   He is bringing you an onslaught of projects to close out the year and this quite possibly could be my favorite joint from him thus far in 2019.   I am loving the production (it’s the strings!) of Mephux coupled with the viciousness of Juxx.  Things can get quite hostile on this track.

Be on the lookout for 2-3 projects to drop this year from Juxx…including this one with Trillmatic.

Big Turks – Lionman (ft. Solomon Childs) (Video)

This is the strongest track off of the best project of 2019.   Yeah…you heard it.   There’s no use in me even fronting.   This is the dopes project out in my mind.   Rome Streetz,  Lord Juco, and Jamal Gasol engulf this track in some flame to make it a ridiculous inferno of sorts.   Unique styles and venom on this Ro Data track.  DJ Chong Wizard assembled some illness of infamous levels here.

If you haven’t checked out the album…this is a must have…a MUST have.   Check it!

EMS (M-Dot x Rev x Kore) – Rapscallions (Video)

Yes…this is weeks delayed but you knew I was going to share it with you guys as it is EMS material.  M-Dot, Rev, and Kore jump on this uptempo Agent Dan track and get hype.   This is the kind of song that gets you amped in a way that is light hearted and reminds us that hip hop can be fun.  With that being said the lyricism will at times sever heads.  And it doesn’t go unnoticed that Rev is hitting a new gear with his bars.   I’ve always enjoyed him as emcee but he is escalating things here.

Ruste Juxx x BigBob – Understand (Video)

Ruste Juxx and producer BigBob have a new collaborative offering on the way in the form of the new album, Culturally Rich.    This track right here continues to give Juxx yet another dimension because he is dropping knowledge and important perspective.   And he does this with a ferocity that not many can match.    BigBob is able to match that intensity with some big production of his own.
