New video from Sleep’s new EP, Branded: The Damon Winton Story. The music and the message take you to an extremely dark place. It’s like God throwing you in the unlit basement and locking the only way out. It’s that kind of dark. But it’s extremely powerful and necessary, because these are the elements and emotions that are facing our children on a daily basis. Sleep makes you feel what this young man was dealing with, which is the point…
Single You Out: Swollen Members – Supreme Beings (ft. DJ D-Rec)
A resurgent Swollen Members crew is about to set it off with another album, Brand New Day, in about a month. and though not a part of the project, this is just a little teaser of what to expect. I like the fact that DJ D-Rec got to mix it up on the track, giving this cut that little something extra to go from good to great. Prevail and Madchild are back mixing their Battle Axe wordplay and haven’t lost one step . So ‘keep the doors locked, and the dead bolts fastened’.
Substantial – Neighborhood Watch (The Other Guys Remix) (ft. Acem of Gods’Illa) (Video)
Substantial and Acem remind us to take notice of what’s going on in your very own backyard…because your neighbors are already knowing about you! The Other Guys provide the remix for the Neighborhood Watch from the reworked version of Substantial’s Art Is Where The Home Is.
Endemic – Calisthenics (ft. Tragedy Khadafi, Sav Killz & Bugsy da God) (Video)
Endemic releases this video from the salvo known as, Terminal Illness Part 2. This is one of the man gritty bangers that you will find on this project. Endemic snares the talents of Tragedy Khadafi, Sav Killz , and Bugsy Da God to rock over some top notch production. Check the album if you have not already.
One Dae – Sweet Dreams (Video)
One Dae is not taking any days off since he dropped his superlative album, Daes & Times last year. He has a new mixtape getting ready to drop called Last Of The Flohicans mixed by the venerable PF Cuttin. This is the first single (I think) from the project. Enjoy!
Intuition & Equalibrum – STFU (Video)
Intuition and Equalibrum dropped their self-titled album today and did it proper. The music is very relatable and easy to listen to. It’s got a very bluesy vibe and made my ride to work all the more pleasurable this morning. This so happens to be one of my favorite tracks from the effort. It’s done from the perspective of his girl in the midst of an argument. Pretty innovative when considering the lyrics….
Illmaculate – Woodstock (ft. OnlyOne) (Video)
Fresh off Illmaculate’s Clay Pigeons album comes a little protest music. Woodstock is about utilizing the power of music to stage a protest right on the White House lawn. All Illmac and OnlyOne want is to have their freedoms guaranteed and not trifled with. It’s that vintage Sandpeople sound…
Eff Yoo & Godilla – They Came On Horseback (Video)
I had no idea this was even in the works. Didn’t know that Eff Yoo and Godilla even were aware of each other. It’s really quite awesome when two artists of this caliber link up though. I have long been a fan of Godilla and became aware of Eff Yoo a couple of years ago and he’s been droppin’ dope music ever since. The whole project is due out on June 3rd and I am anxious to hear what the two have cooked up. This is definitely a short but dope banger!
Kue The Vandal – American Degenerate (Video)
Kue The Vandal drops a tough pill to swallow (literally) with his new track, American Degenerate produced by Dope Antelope. Man, this single gives me some angst. Depressingly dope. I can’t wait to hear the complete project.
Iron Braydz – Rambo (ft. Kyza & Skriblah) (Video)
New video from Iron Braydz latest EP, Verbal sWARdz. The track showing folks in the States that England can bring that fire too! There’s some serious spittery on this track with Braydz, Kyza, and Skriblah each delivering a string of some tough bars.
