You know there is so much music being cranked out on a daily basis that I am going to take a step back and appreciate some of my favorite projects from years passed.  And PremRock’s 2014 album, A Clean, Well-Lighted Place, is an album that I constantly find myself coming back to.   He is just such a distinctive emcee in the way he approaches his writing and music in general.  He taps on emotion and borders on the abstract at times, which keeps the listener engaged in ways other artists simply aren’t capable of.    There are many great tracks on this album, but the one I want you to latch onto for the moment is Juliet Has Survived.

As always, if you enjoy the track, please empty a few coffers into the man’s hand and purchase his art.

Single You Out: Rhythm Writers – Line In The Sand (prod. by Sutter Kain)

NSD’s, Rhythm Writers link up yet again with DJ Bless/Sutter Kain to create another win in terms of their latest single, Line In The Sand.   The Duo of Mr. Crowley and Awax seem extremely focused on their rhyme skills and ability to make music over an almost, melancholy production from DJ Bless.

Every single I have heard from these guys has been dope, so I hope there is a project coming down the pipe.

Single You Out: Ren Thomas – Hero

This track is tangible truth that the art of story telling is not dead in hip hop.  Ren Thomas narrates a pretty intricate detail of a woman who is trying to get out of a bad situation.   Some pretty amazing visuals are depicted through Thomas’ bars and I encourage you to check them out.  I guess this song is actually circa mid 2014 but I just caught wind of it on the bandcamp site.

This song comes off of Ren Thomas’ project,  Who The Fuck Is Ren Thomas?
