Nems is about to unleash his latest project, Planet Of The Apes, and this is the latest single from the project. He enlists long time associate George Burnz and Danse to help murk the beat which is incidentally produced by a resurgent Agallah (this name has been ringing extra loud lately).
Worth Revisiting: PremRock – Juliet Has Survived
You know there is so much music being cranked out on a daily basis that I am going to take a step back and appreciate some of my favorite projects from years passed. And PremRock’s 2014 album, A Clean, Well-Lighted Place, is an album that I constantly find myself coming back to. He is just such a distinctive emcee in the way he approaches his writing and music in general. He taps on emotion and borders on the abstract at times, which keeps the listener engaged in ways other artists simply aren’t capable of. There are many great tracks on this album, but the one I want you to latch onto for the moment is Juliet Has Survived.
As always, if you enjoy the track, please empty a few coffers into the man’s hand and purchase his art.
Single You Out: Rhythm Writers – Line In The Sand (prod. by Sutter Kain)
NSD’s, Rhythm Writers link up yet again with DJ Bless/Sutter Kain to create another win in terms of their latest single, Line In The Sand. The Duo of Mr. Crowley and Awax seem extremely focused on their rhyme skills and ability to make music over an almost, melancholy production from DJ Bless.
Every single I have heard from these guys has been dope, so I hope there is a project coming down the pipe.
Single You Out: Cayoz – Lost Generation (ft. D2A) (Prod. By O*Zee)
Cayoz maintains his streak of dropping meaning full bars that we showcase on HHD. This is just smart hip hop music as Cayoz and D2A buck the trend of being labelled a ‘Lost Generation’ over some sublime production from O*Zee.
I am still however waiting for his EP to drop. Ahem.
Single You Out: Ren Thomas – Hero
This track is tangible truth that the art of story telling is not dead in hip hop. Ren Thomas narrates a pretty intricate detail of a woman who is trying to get out of a bad situation. Some pretty amazing visuals are depicted through Thomas’ bars and I encourage you to check them out. I guess this song is actually circa mid 2014 but I just caught wind of it on the bandcamp site.
This song comes off of Ren Thomas’ project, Who The Fuck Is Ren Thomas?
Single You Out: M-Dot – The Wildstyle Flashback (ft. Maylay Sparks & Skyzoo) (prod. Nikkel K)
M-Dot, Maylay Sparks, and Skyzoo link up (albeit all the way back in 2012) to pay homage to the hip hop elements and the first hip hop movie ever made over a vintage sound from French producer Nikkel K. It’s very smooth and cohesive as the emcee’s flows really work well with each other.
Single You Out: Challace – Call Em Out (prod. Big O)
The homie Big O put me on to this track he produced for an artist named, Challace. The track puts the industry and it’s rumor mill on blast over a banger produced by our friend. It’s definitely music that will keep your interest piqued for the duration. If I get the opportunity I am going to be sure to listen to the mixtape.
Single You Out: OnlyOne – UK to the Bridges (prod. by Chase Moore)
OnlyOne channels his inner Brit over some primo Chase Moore production.
Single You Out: J-Scriptz – The Vent Part 2 (prod. by Dope Antelope)
I keep on re-listening to this project from J-Scriptz from 2014. It’s such a dope project and deserves the utmost attention so here is another favorite track from his Transition EP. Simply listen to the personally woven intricacies in the song. Please make sure you check out and cop the project, not as a favor to me, but for hip hop.
