I feel like Topr is someone I should have shown love to a long time ago! On a whim I copped his album, Life Of The Afterparty, on iTunes, and the album is certified heat. In particular I could listen to the first two songs from the album continuously. They are that good. I Shouldn’t Have Left You is one of those songs.
Single You Out: Typ Ill – Everything is War
Typ ILL is back with a new project, 30 Days, which should be out by the time you finish reading this post. This particular single has a mellow production taking a back seat to thought provoking rhymes that are the biproduct of Typ Ill’s experience.
Single You Out: Asylum Lifetime x Sherm LaRock – Something Wrong
Asylum Lifetime and Sherm Larock are back with the thing they do best: concocting bangers. And this joint knocks heavy. The beat from Sherm Larock is pretty amazing..the depth with the horns, strings, and drums really provides a surging energy. Asylum Lifetime also shows a consistently dope flow and voice as an emcee.
These guys are easily some of my favorites whom I don’t hear enough from. They are too ill. Need a full length!
Single You Out: Grieves – Rx
Grieves is one of those artists that has the ability to connect with his audience. His emotion fills his music and that makes him extremely relatable to a lot of people. Rx is a deeply honest reflection on the safety we seem to find in our addictions. The prescription can also be found for for those that have been missing his music. That is at least until his forthcoming album, Running Wild, drops later this summer.
Enjoy!
Single You Out: V-Zilla – God Z.I.L.L.A.
Everyone knows Zilla has bars…dude could flow on for days and this song demonstrates nothing less than that ability and talent. He’s backed on the boards by Sultan Mir for this first single from the impending album, Martyr Musick. The song has got that boom-bap with a touch of soul. You get the entire head nod effect.
Single You Out: Finale x Fel Sweetenberg – One Light
Detroit’s Finale links up with Camden stalwart, Fel Sweetenberg for a new project. One Light is the first release from the project, Two Kings, and I think we can anticipate something dope when the full length drops. This track is hitting like two emcees on a war march.
…I bet this shit feel like a whole lifetime worth of Mic Tyson uppercuts..
Single You Out: Epsilon Project – Prayer (ft. Rae Edmond)
I have followed Epsilon Project for quite a while, but it has been a minutes since they have put out any new music. I was pleasantly surprised this week when I saw this new project from member Verb, MIDRANGE drop.
Prayer is my favorite cut from this project. I love the vocal sample and the production overall. The emcees each add a personal element to the track making this song something that will tap into listener’s consciousness.
Powerful.
Single You Out: Adam Bomb x Big Sproxx – Sister Bessie
I lifted this dope cut from Adam Bomb and Big Sproxx’s latest project, Live From Larstone. It’s just too nice not to share with you all. The production from Sproxx is sharp and soulful, the vocal loop he is using is what differentiates this song from being just ‘good’. Adam Bomb does an incredible job taking us through his questions for God and religion as a whole.
Really meaningful stuff from an all around dope project that I think heads should be checking for.
Single You Out: Estee Nack, Paranom & Oblivious – Flatline
Estee Nack, Paranom, and Oblivious take you to the dark side over some production from Vinyl Villain and Jon Glass. If you are going to live in the world of these emcees, you had better be about it…no fronting’…mercy at a premium.
I hope this song makes it out for purchase…it’s worth the coin!
Single You Out: Sideways – Raindrops (ft. Coin Banks, Elodie Rama, and Mr. J Medeiros)
Man, you may not be aware of any of the artists on this track, but you would be hard pressed to find a smoother hip hop joint in 2017. It’s super-mellow and super-dope.
Sideways is a producer collaborative featuring the talents of Ghostnaut (Montreal) Dualib (Brazil). There is something very melodic about this piece right here, and while the production stands out, the emcees and singer are also considerably talented. The track features Coin Banks, Elodie Rama, and Mr. J Medeiros.
Enjoy!
