Single You Out: Luke Sick x Wolfagram – Hell’s Melody

I stumbled across this release from emcee Luke Sick and producer Wolfagram. The album is called, Garshas-Lungs 237. I honestly have not listened to it all as of this moment but did cop it off of the strength of this…the first song off of the album…Hell’s Melody.

The beat on this from Wolfagram is sick (no pun intended…or maybe). It’s got that dark and ominous feel. And then when, the guitar licks come in on the break, wow…that’s some sure head nod effect there.

And Luke Sick, has this casual and conversational flow, but he definitely brings it lyrically to match the production vibe. Really enjoyed this all around.

Single You Out: Defcee x Messiah Musik – The Golem Brooklyn Theme Song

I am a huge of fan of Defcee. Though some will hate comparisons, I think of the first time I heard Aesop Rock’s Labor Days as to the first time I heard Defcee. He just has an uncanny way of juxtaposing words though not as abstract. It’s just incredibly clever writing and he has the voice and skill to back up that pen game.

Here, over some superlative production Messiah Musik, Defcee jumps into his Jewish culture referencing the creation of the Golem. I am no expert, but this a creation in Jewish folklore where a ‘being’ is created from clay for servitude. I read about this in the Umberto Eco book, The Prague Cemetery. But now that you know how nerdy I might be, listen to the illness demonstrated below.

This single is the lead off of an entire project in which Defcee reflects upon his Jewish heritage and experience in the United States. I can’t wait to hear it in its entirety.

Single You Out: Torah & Marco Polo – The Return

Oh lawd! This is a true and legitimate gift we have been given with “The Return” of music from Marco Polo and Torae. This is that hip hop forged in fire and perfectly molded for eardrums in 2023. It’s got the nostalgic property for those who remember the last project, but also clearly can stand on its own amongst today’s contemporaries.’

This is hip hop with punch on so many levels. Torae hits every bar with tenacity, and Marco Polo leaves nothing to the imagination making you feel each beat.

Really missed this union and can’t wait to hear more from the combination in the very near future. As a matter of fact, September 22nd, the new album, Midnight Run, drops. I can’t wait!

Single You Out: Crafsmen x Van Gunz- Scapegoat

I am going in my own backyward of Virginia to showcase some serious talent. I am pretty sure I showcased Crafsmen many moons ago, and now I found this gem on bandcamp with producer Van Gunz, Grizzled Vets. And this project has me hype. This is the perfect fusion of that clever lyricism and boom bap flavor. I am giving you this Scapegoat for you to sink your ears into. I guarantee you are going to feel the flow and that classical fueled boom bap.

Single You Out: Kahlee x XP The Marxman – Don’t Take It Personal (ft. Tone Spliff) (prod. by DK)

Oh here’s some real illness coming from Kahlee and XP The Marxman in the form of the single, Don’t Take It Personal. The beat by DK is ridiculously good and Tone Spliff adds that special sauce to an already dope mixture. The bars are pen game are top notch as well. This is some real hip hop flavor here. I hope you enjoy as it’s definitely a favorite here.

Single You Out: Speaker Bullies – Godspeed (ft. Skyzoo)

New single from the combination of Supastition and Praise as the Speaker Bullies, and this time the track features none other than Skyzoo.

Praise laces an uptempo and high energy banger for some of the most talented and accomplished emcees to ever do it. The talent level on this track is high and the duo plays really well together. There is a smoothness and effortless way that both Supa and Skyzoo flow. These artists have done things their way and on the merits of their own talent and persistence.

Can’t wait to hear the new album, The Art Of Disrespect, which drops on July 7th. You are going to need that!

Single You Out: Stu Bangas x Chino XL – Murder Rhyme Kill (ft. Vinnie Paz)

Stu Bangas and Chino XL have something immaculately dope coming out on the 7th of July. It’s the long awaited, God’s Carpenter project. And to be fair, I am always in a perpetual stay of waiting for Chino XL to drop. I still remember waiting and thinking, Poison Pen would never see the light of the day. But the hour is upon us and Murder Rhyme Kill is the first offering from the project.

This track is straight sinister with an unnerving vibe that keeps the listener on edge. Vinnie Paz sets the tone with a first hard-hitting sixteen, and the Chino drops what seems like a 32 bar barrage that will make the strongest pen game jealous.

The preorder is in and if you love hip hop, yours should be in as well.

Single You Out: Substance810 & Observe Since ’98 – Dividends

Substance810 and Observe Since ’98 link back for another project, The Lions Share 2: Gold Shillings. That project is dropping next Friday, but if you want and early listen, they have a listening party that you can RSVP for tonight on bandcamp.

Meanwhile, this one of the first two cuts released in in full and in advance of the project and Dividends builds that anticiaption properly. Observe cooks up a dark and haunting production, and Substance810 gives you the lion’s roar with an unrelenting verse. They ace it.
