Single You Out: DJ J-$crilla – NEVALETTADAYGOBY (ft. Doe Cigapom x Young i x Waze)

When DJ J-$crilla says he has some new music for me to listen to, I generally stop what I am doing and give it a listen.  He has a knack for producing bangers and has done so for the likes of K-Beta, Sketch, and Reef The Lost Cause.

On this cut, I am not sure, but I think he made the streets cry with this production.  I love the sample to go along with the emcees verses narrating different stories of grief and pain.

This is the second single from Reel High which is tapped for a Spring 2013 release date.

Friday Feature: Peet Caliber – Shadowboxing

Shadowboxing

Peet Caliber will be our final #FridayFeature of 2012.  It was actually supposed to be go time in November but being from New Jersey and Hurricane Sandy derailed that plan.   At any rate..,

Peet Caliber is another name I cam across on my inbox and when I first heard his cut Amoxicillin I was hooked.  This was a man perfect for our Friday Feature.  He gets after with a no frills approach and brings raw lyricism over big beats.  And speaking of Hurricane Sandy, how about a little silver lining in it’s aftermath?  Shadowboxing is certain to make heads nod with production from Luv Jonez. Spit game from Peet Caliber that puts the listener on straight survival mode.

I can’t wait to hear more material from this man.  You can hear more every Friday in December!

Single You Out: Benefit – Mind Running (ft. M-Dot and Famoso) (Produced By DC Soulplusmind) Cuts By DJ Grazzhoppa

Mind Running (Art)

When EMS comes a’ knocking with new music, I am always answering the door.  What we have here is a very soulful track from DC Soulplusmind and some excellent DJ skills exhibited by DJ Grazhoppa.   Those two things already made this track a gem but then you add the likes of M-Dot, Famoso, and Benefit to the mic duties and you have something superlative.  This track is off of the Benefit’s upcoming mixtape,  Timing Of the Godfather.

Single You Out: Sutter Kain – Shoot Her In The Face (ft. Rev Fang Gory and Insane Poetry)

4285704451-1

Sutter Kain is on some “bodies hit the floor” type ish on this joint.  This is not for the faint of heart.  Fans of Sutter Kain will remember this sound from his album from three years ago, Black Sunday – Mask Of The Demon. The lyrics in this cut surpass hard, and tread  on the psychopathic which I will presume is the point.  The production is that Ghetto Metal flavor that has come to be associated with NSD Records.

Single You Out: Saheed – Gaza Trip (prod. by Numonics)

Speaking of innovative (building off of my MadKem post)  how about this beat from Numonics for this single for Saheed.   Is that Frank Sinatra?  I can’t tell for sure but what a great sample and beat for this song!  Meanwhile Saheed uses this song as a forum to discuss what;s going on in the land of his ancestry, the Gaza Strip.  You think your world is a ghetto?   Don’t get it twisted.
