Single You Out: Chuck N Lock – Money On The Line

This new Chuck N Lock is soooooooo damn good. Grant Burgess puts this vocal sample and dusty sample in the forefront of his production, which acts as the duos haunt for about three minutes. But Chuck N Lock…I’ve said this before…their pen game and the way they sin words is one of a kind.

When duty calls, most of yall just ignore it / Let it go to your voice mail recording / Never check it if the message is important / I get it, I just don’t endorse it / I never force it / Unless I am kicking it off the door hinge / I’m at your neck like the headless horseman / Full of endorphines / Special forces and a furious pen / I’m working lat one out, first one in….

The prolific Recognize Ali is back with his first offering of 2024 and we at HHD are ready. The single, Veteranos, is off of the forthcoming album, As You Sow So Shall You Reap. J. Blunted provides a soulful soundscape utilizing a vocal sample to really make the track hit irrespective of the fact it’s without drums. Recognize Ali and guest emcee, Tony Mundo each deliver sharp bars with a little spanish in the mix as well.

Single You Out: Ullnevano x Logic Marselis – Amazing Hallelujah

Ullnevano and Logic Marselis makes great music together. We’ve featured the collaboration a few times before an now they are back with another album on tap, CONCORDS. The two artists really bring the best out of each other in my humble opinion. Marselis really knows his craft and executing a ‘sound’. There’s just an energy that goes beyond the drums. And Ullnevano, always feels so at home here, over these beats. His turn of phrase and rhyme schemes blends seamlessly with a very blessed pen game.

Single You Out: J Rawls & Cas Metah – Glory (ft. Scribbling Idiots)

If you want some dope hip hop with meaning, look no further than Cas Metah and J. Rawls new project, Criminal Blinded. Man, this project is so good, and needs to be showcased. The production is amongst the best I have heard this year. Honestly, maybe among the best I have heard in the last SEVERAL years. And Cas Metah and all of his guest spots sound really immaculate on this project. It’s really hard to pick a favorite track from this joint. They are all so damn good. But the song Glory, featuring the Scribbling Idiots, really stuck out to me. These guys have always been masters of incorporating religion and spirituality in their music without sounding holier than thou. Catch the music and the message!

Single You Out: L. I. F. E. Long & Seyes Finest – Bloops & Blunders (ft. Wish Master & Dj Afar)

L.I.F.E. Long has been independent hip hop personified in hip hop for decades now and continues to drop dope hip hop music upon us. Here he links up with producer Seyes Finest and UK emcee, Wish Master.

The production is smooth and yet just a little haunting as the emcees discuss about living life to the fullest and watching out for the snakes in the grass and getting wrong routed by life’s pitfalls.

New EP, Still Relevant, dropping in 2024.

Single You Out: Mickey Diamond – Tex Avery

Big Umbrella! Need I say more? Mickey Diamond is certified, and his name carries as much weight if not more, than anyone in the game. The way he delivers his bars, there is no equal. And this is my favorite track off of his his new album, Bangkok Dangerous 4 . The beat by Camouflage Monk is sublime, and Diamond laces gem after gem. You must cop this!

Polamalu in the field I’m out here tackling shit / Plenty pringles in the bank, look at him stacking his chips / I used to argue with my bitch, she steady smacking her lips / Until I showed her I don’t need her, now she’s back on my dick

Single You Out: The Umbrella – Shifty

The Umbrella is taking over. Of this there is no doubt and I love the fact the collective did a single under the name. Substance810, Pro Dillinger, Snotty and Josiah The Gift rock over some superlative production from Mosbeats. I love the beat flip that occurs on Josiah’s verse. But on the whole, these artists ALWAYS bring that A-Game. It’s so time for The Umbrella to release that ‘family album’. So much talent in this group. Each artist brings something to the table. Love that.
