3 Melancholy Gypsys – The 3 (Video)

You haven’t studied hip hop well enough if you are not familiar with the appropriately titled Living Legends crew. In the late 90s and 2000s they were prevalent in a very prolific way with countless dope releases along the way. Some of the crew members continued to make music and others I am not so sure of…but now we see a re-emergence of the offshoot 3 Melancholy Gypsy’s (Eligh, Murs, and Scarub) and you know unequivocally that the talent remains undiminished.

We are once again graced with the presence of legends!

Single You Out: Chuck N Lock – Tomorrow Never Dies

The Famous Last Words project from Chuck N Lock has been out for about a month now, but this is my first time giving it a listen and I knew it was going to be good…but this is pretty damn incredible. At $30 a scoop I was a little incredulous, but thought I def could support the art. Glad I did. The music and sound in general is unique while still sounding familiar if that makes sense. The dexterity with words is unparalleled with their contemporaries.

And while Tomorrow Never Dies isn’t exactly my favorite track from the project, it’s still really damn good and illustrates that distinguishing sound. Check the project!

Raf Almighty – Raw (Video)

The Dirt Platoon represents again with Raf Almighty coming thru with another banger (but would we expect anything else?) Superlative production comes courtesy of Bombdrop. The pairing have an unmeasured intensity that will be hard pressed to be rivaled.

This track is a single from the upcoming Kujo album dropping in November, so stay tuned for that.

Single You Out: King David – The Go Around (ft. Eto)

So I haven’t heard too many people talking about this joint, but in my mind it’s a must listen to. Eto’s name has been ringing for years, but this production from King David needs to get some due. This is a great track, with Eto’s raspy, yet intricate flows, appearing on this guitar laced heat.

This track can or will be found on King David’s project, Diamond in My Crown, which I can’t find too much about right now, but will put out my feelers.

38 Spesh – The Showdown (Video)

38 Spesh is another artist that simply can do no wrong. He surprised us with his latest EP, 6 Shots, and this is a gem from the project. What I think makes Spesh remarkable is that is equal parts producer and emcee, and is remarkable at both. The mans has beats and bars in abundance and every project is something that needs recommendation.

M-Dot – Another Day (Video)

M-Dot has let us into his life as an artist through his music before, but this time you can visually see the endurance it takes to keep up with his kind of grind. It takes not only the talent, but the willingness to sacrifice the things that many of us take for granted, in order for success to be achieved.

And I’ve said it before, not many fuse talent and hustle like M-Dot has for many years. I’m also going to go as far and say this: So many talented artists have folded their tents for as long as I have been writing, but M-Dot is a testament to that necessary resiliency.

Daniel Son x Asun Eastwood x Futurewave x 36th Cypher – Portable Stoves (Video)

Whatever moniker these guys put out their music under, Futurewave, Asun Eastwood, and Daniel Son only drop gems. Ever since they got their sound out a few years ago, their names stay ringing. And we all keep close tabs on when they are going to drop their next projects. So now we have Bite The Bullet, a subsequent offering from last year’s joint, Physics Of Filth (which I still bump steadily). It’s potent material that hip hop fans are going to be sure to love.
