New Planet Asia, Holy Water, is slated to be out today. I am hoping that’s the case because I always look forward to his music. This is an emcee’s emcee. He can rock over ANY beat. And here he represents over some audible chaos from The Architect. Planet Asia is dropping some Revalations in the truest sense of the word!
XL the BEAST – Choices (Video)
XL lets loose an introspective track from his new album, Heavy Hands. He takes the time to reflect and look back at the man he was, the choices that he made, and all of the people that compose his story in the here and now. Definitely something most of us due as we get older…take account for our lives. Very well done.
Single You Out: The Tangiers – Wrath Of The Titans (ft. M-Dot x RJ Payne)
Ohhhh damn…you all are not ready for this…but nonetheless here it is. RJ Payne is one of the most sought over collaborative talents right now. His pen game is just ruthless. And here you have The Tangiers (Benefit and Kaine) inviting him along with M-Dot to trade bars over a track that is also produced by M-Dot. The end result is just spectacular. This joint is exceptional and gets you hype on the abundance of rhyme and rhythm.
This track is coming from The Tangiers forthcoming album, The House Always Wins.
Terror Van Poo & Vinny Idol – Without You (Video)
Terror Van Poo and Vinny Idol are one of the best producer/emcee combinations going right now. The great chemistry between the two is exhibited time and time again. This track has Vinny Idol turning down the drums and up the soul while Van Poo demonstrates he can drive points home with sharp wordplay alone.
From the recently released album, Terror Like It Is.
TCF x BSF ft. Elcamino – Corners (prod. by 38 Spesh) (Video)
This is one of the Elcamino features on the the TCF x BSF collaborative project, Trust The Sopranos. Corners has Camino narrating stories of what can happen on the streets and how wild and sombering those moments can be. He does so over a 38 Spesh groove, that really holds to the perspective of the content.
The Truth & Frank B. (BadFellas) – That’s It (Video)
Man, I was waiting for Frank B’s solo album for the longest time and it never dropped as far as I can tell, so for me to see this project with The Truth, I am pretty damn stoked! And these guys do not disappoint! These bars and flows have me craving their new album, BadFellas. It drops next Friday, so make sure you all stay alert on copping that! This is the finest dope!
Single You Out: Apathy – We Don’t Fuck Around
Apathy’s discography takes up quite a bit of hard drive space on my computer with all the projects he has put out and songs he has done over the years. He’s been one of the most consistently dope emcees over the course of the last decade and a half or more. And now, he’s got a new one coming next Friday, Where The River Meets The Sea. We Don’t Fuck Around is the first single from the project and is self-produced with cuts from Tone Spliff. And nothings changed here…Ap’s flows remain razor sharp, while the production is quite dope.
Fatt Father – Party Of 1 (prod. by Foul Mouth) (Video)
Fatt Father is putting a new spin on being domesticated! He has some fire bars on top of this superlative production from Foul Mouth. Party Of 1 has a bluesy and soulful vibe, but don’t get it twisted, his bars have authority behind them. He’s got one of those voices that cut through the noise and just hit you!
I can’t wait to check out his album, Soccer Dad, out now.
Single You Out: Deuce Ellis – Spit Acid (ft. Che Noir)
Deuce Ellis teams up Che Noir for this low key banger, Spit Acid. The production is pretty sparse which really allows you to hone in on the bars. There’s some really great lyrics in here…Ellis’ Mukkbang line was a distinct ‘rewind moment’. As was Noirs’….”give a bitch an inch…and they like to drive the car”.
Assassins on deck!
Asun Eastwood x Finn – Soul’s Mystery (Video)
New video from the ever prolific, Asun Eastwood and producer Finn. Eastwood has been grinding at a torrid place when it comes to creating dope music, but this has a different feel to it. An elevation, where producer and emcee are in perfect sync, fused together for this track. Finn layers the track with various samples lead by a guitar, while Eastwood finds next level comfort in the cut, as his words pour from the music. Really feeling it.
This song is from the duo’s just released project, The S.O.UL., and I am about to check the complete project at some point today. You should too!
