I just listened to Lord Willin and Redd Rebel’s new project, Fire & Steel, and was thoroughly impressed. Lots of banging beats on this project with hard rhymes. I definitely recommend you pick it up. Here you have a Sultan Mir produced joint with N.B.S.’ V Knuckles lending his mic expertise to the track. Don’t sleep! This one knocks.
Rasheed Chappell & XP The Marxman – Water To Wine (ft. Oran Juice Jones II) (Video)
Rasheed Chappell and XP The Marxman are out to do something remarkable with their new video single, Water To Wine, produced by Slide Beatz. The track is so smooth, while our emcees continue to push their art to the next limit…their way. These are two artists that have paid countless dues to get where they are at and continue to strive. This is dope and inspiring music that can be found on their collaborative album, Rx.
Single You Out: Xcel x CLOAQxDAGGER – Tylenol (ft. Anoyd)
I definitively want more people to peep on what’s going on with this project right here. Xcel and CLOAQxDAGGER have cooked up a really dope EP entitled, Godspeed. I knew the production team had been putting out some really dope production, and gave this a listen on the strength of that, and the project is quite dope. It also turns out that the emcee, Xcel, is a first rate wordsmith. I was really impressed with all things from the EP, and here they team up with Anoyd for my favorite joint from the project, Tylenol. Check it out, cop, enjoy, and thank me later!
BIG ALMIGHTY (BigBob & Raf Almighty) – Bible Paper (Video)
BigBob and Raf Almighty connect as Big Almighty again for their most recent and self-titled album. Bible Paper is the current single. This is everything thing you would expect from these artists. You know there is going to be that uncut and raw hip hop flavor that Dirt Platoon fans have come to expect, backed by the boombap of BigBob. The duo is set to smoke the competition like bible paper.
Single You Out: Words x DJ TMB – All I Want (ft. Napoleon Da Legend x Venomous 2000)

It’s been a minute since I have heard some new music from Words, so as soon as I saw this I had to give it a listen. And here he is linking up with the very talented and respected DJ TMB and emcees Napoleon Da Legend and Venomous2000. It’s a dope track as could be anticipated and coming off the forthcoming album, The Winterborns.
Single You Out: Butch Swim & Tha Anthom – Big Bossman Tokyo (ft. M-Dot & Rev)
Some new music that involves the good Brothers M-Dot and Rev is always welcome and they find themselves on the song Big Bossman Tokyo which is produced by Bay Area producer duo, Butch Swim & Tha Anthom. Tha Anthom also handles a sixteen in between the Boston emcees, and all verses hit their mark on this Tekken inspired track.
Good music.
Jedi Mind Tricks – Second Hand Smoke (Video)
New Jedi Mind Tricks album is on the way and this is just the precursur! The Funeral & The Raven is up for pre-order now and I know fans of the group and myself are anxious for the release. Very few hip hop artists have stood the test of time in this era as the likes of JMT, and done it by consistently dropping dope music. On Second Hand Smoke, Stoupe unleashes his version of a music box mixed with sharp snares for Paz to spit over.
Nems – Tha Boro (ft. Eddie Kaine x Ill Bill x Rim) (Video)
Nems invites his contemporaries from around Brooklyn to represent their area of Tha Boro. Eddie Kaine, Ill Bill, and Rim all drop bars to showcase their residence off of this joint from the CONGO album which is out now. This joint has a nostalgic feel about as each emcee has a story and perspective to tell. Dope!
Lord Juco & Finn – Teresa (Video)
Lord Juco and Finn just released their collaborative album, Details, on Golden Era last week. It becomes available on DSP this week. And this is just a meager taste of the soulful vibe that is put on display from the two artists for you. As Juco flips on the comfortability of being around the ones he loves, and love him over some crooning vocal samples. Definitely something to check!
Single You Out: M-Dot (ft. Kool G Rap x Revalation) (prod. by The Mighty V.I.C.)
M-Dot’s new single, Decadence, takes us through time when he invites emcees Kool G Rap, M-Dot, and Revalation to drop some verses over a beat from The Might V.I.C. The production, for my ears, harkens back to 1990s, with losts of synth elements, appropriately placed horns, and scratches from DJ Jean Maron applying LL Cool J samples. Each emcee picks takes on a time frame and takes us back to that place from their own perspective. The concept is articulated perfectly and I am positive all will enjoy.
