Oh here’s some real illness coming from Kahlee and XP The Marxman in the form of the single, Don’t Take It Personal. The beat by DK is ridiculously good and Tone Spliff adds that special sauce to an already dope mixture. The bars are pen game are top notch as well. This is some real hip hop flavor here. I hope you enjoy as it’s definitely a favorite here.
DJ Jaymob & Ruste Juxx – Listen To This Shit Again (Video)
Who brings it more tough bars than Ruste Juxx? No One. He is tireless, relentless, and keeps delivering that raw hip hop for the masses. This time he does so over a DJ Jaymob banger. The two are very much in sync with bars and production. Top notch hip hop.
You can find this record on DJ Jaymob’s project, Paying Homage To Hip Hop. That’s a direct to purchase item, so support good hip hop.
Halfcut & Reks – Roses (Video)
Always good to hear some new music from Reks which was my drive to initially check out this cut. This is also the perfect pairing to the New Villain track we just posted. Again, it’s a celebration of life, savoring the moments and the memories, because they can all so soon be gone. Reks and and Halfcut both drop poignant verses on past losses and being in the present moment over a melodic production from Kuddie Fresh.
New collaborative project, Survival Mode, available on August 10th.
New Villain & Enkay – Round My Way (Video)
New Villain and Enkay take you on a dope journey through memory lane. Round My Way has New Villain reminiscing about his past experiences over a melodic, jazzy, yet snappy production from Enkay. You can catch this joint off of the new project, From The Villain With Love III which is out now for purchase.
The Bad Seed & JR Swiftz – Def Leppard (Video)
The Bad Seed and JR Swiftz deliver a one handed beat down with the video single, Def Leppard. I love the guitar loop Swiftz uses for this single, and you should know by now that Seed only drops lava rocks in his verses. I’ve told you a multitude of times that this artist has only gotten better with time. He proves it every year. So consistent and so dope.
The NEW project is here, Strike The Shepherd. And you need to cop. This man only makes dope music.
Paradime – Period. (Video)
A lot of people are saying it, and I am just going to reiterate it…it’s been a long time since we’ve seen Paradime’s talent, and it’s so good to see him back at this craft he is so excellent at. I listen to his project, Breaking Beauregaurd, often enough because there are so many joints that knock heavy on that.
Then recently I heard the track, The Reign, and was completely blown away. He’s back!!! And THAT is a top ten track this year.
Now, we have word that a new album, Period., dropping on Mello Music on September 22nd. And this is the video for the title track. And you can hear the raw, no nonsense, wordplay from a man who bleeds Detroit hip hop through and through. Strip down beat from Pig Pen, scratches from DJ Los, and the rawness of Paradime.
Skanks the Rap Martyr – Double Cross Ranch (ft. Ruste Juxx & Ren Thomas) (Video)
A new video for one of my favorite track from Skanks The Rap Martyr. This joint has always been a standout with hard hitting production from DJ Kanzer, and guest bars from Ren Thomas and Ruste Juxx. So many great bars on this joint, with a few of my favorite artists, but Skanks’ verse has so many gems in it. This is one of my favorite verses ever because of how much truth he inflicts here.
…but that’s a privilege still / some’ll set you up and get you killed / fake love will fuck you up way more than trust ever will / for real take it from the Martyr / so don’t say that I didn’t warn ya / just cuz they in your circle don’t mean them n*@#as in your corner / I ain’t hating on dudes my n*@#a I’m just stating the truth / but the truth sounds like hate to people who hate the truth / so let me teach you what I was taught when I was younger / never burn long term bridges for short term hunger
Don’t sleep! Skanks’ pen game is elite. You can actually find Double Cross Ranch on the 2021 project, M.O.S.T.
Boot Camp Clik – Wotcha Call Strength (Video)
This is just special! The Boot Camp Click back together again, and delivering their sound with ‘strength’. They are picking up right where they left off decades ago with an incredibly hard hitting song, Wotcha Call Strength.
Ruste Juxx starts it off with one of the toughest verses of the year, then followed by an equally vicious bevy of bars from Rockness Monsta. And it doesn’t stop there and just continues to the very last bar.
The Arcitype laces the perfect beat for this posse cut. Top Notch from the opening bell.
Premiere: M-Dot – The Atonement (prod. by Pete Rock) (Video)
M-Dot gave me the privilege to be able to debut his new video for the Pete Rock produced heater, The Atonement, off of his recently released album, egO anD The eneMy 2: A Dissolute Paradise.
M-Dot has that knack for making music that connects a listener to the artist, often hitting on topics that so many of us can relate to. But every once in a while, a man needs to flex what differentiates him from the rest of us. And hence we have The Atonement, which is unabated lyrical tenacity unleashed over a gritty Pete Rock beat.
The quotables can’t be extrapolated when they are woven together this tightly, which really showcases M-Dot’s gifts as an emcee.
Gritty video. Gritty sound. Supreme talent. Perfect Blend.
Single You Out: Team Demo – Timbs In The Summer (ft. Yogi x Wais P)
Team Demo has a summer anthem on their hands with their new sing, Timbs In The Summer, featuring Yogi and Wais P. I can easily see this joint on repeat in your city now. Definitely has that anthem appeal with an infectious beat and chorus and Wais P solidifying that effort with strong sixteens.
