Just Putt from one of my favorite crews, Dead Poets, dropped this off a couple of days ago and this was my first opportunity to check it out. It’s definitely worth the download. He has a slick flow and raw lyricism. This track is one that kinds of lulls you into a slumber only to leave you in a body bag. Smooth production…tough lyrics.

Blaq Poet is hard at work putting out banging tracks like this. Poet drops those hard rhymes while some hip hop samples are being chopped up in the background over some neck-snapping drums. This is the title track from the EP going by the same name that drops on September 25th. Be warned!
This is a nice cut from Charmingly Ghetto’s latest project, Scotland Yahd. It’s smooth but will still have you nodding your head. I haven’t heard the EP, but I will be getting on that with the strength of this record.
It’s a very soulful, yet heavy joint. Although, I find any time you have Wise Intelligent on your cut, it becomes heavy. Dude is just deep. This is everything we expect from a joint from The Audible Doctor…no less than excellence.
I spotted this track over at TheHipHopHead and was really impressed by how hard this joint banged. First off, Godilla is that man right now. Maybe not a lot people know about him but this emcee can deliver the verbal artillery…consistently.

illMEASURED is a producer out of the DMV area that I have been checking for since DAY ONE. Ever since I heard some of his production off of the Rome Cee album, The Grey Area, I new that this guy was hidden talent that just needed more exposure to his craft. The man can create productions that range from jazzy and laid back to those boom-bap bangers we all know and crave. He is as exceptional as he is diverse. So every Friday throughout the month of September we are going to be looking at new and old and projects from this producer to showcase his talents.
For this week’s installment, I present to you a recent cut illMEASURED produced for another HHD mainstay, UllNevaNo. The cut is called Thought You Knew. This song is a great demonstration of how illMEASURED intermingles so many different sounds to create the perfect track. The horns, the vocal sample, and the scratching is a definitive hip hop moment. It’s easy to hear why he is being featured here in just under four and a half minutes. It certainly doesn’t hurt that UllNevaNo more than owns up to his end of the bargain by dropping bar after bar of heat.

We may have missed last Friday’s feature but I will not deny this man’s potential. He delivers another raw and dope flow that I had to share. The joint is dark and M.A. Cee-Kings rips some ruthless bars for us to enjoy. This joint was originally recorded back in 2007, which just goes to show you that music from Apathy and Celph Titled is timeless. The two really are a great combination. This track can be found on the Coalmine Records compilation, Unearthed, which will see the light in early 2013.
I introduce to you, HHD’s latest find…L.U.K.E ! It’s really good to see younger (younger being quite relative) artists embracing hip hop. L.U.K.E. and his compadres, Sage and Abstract prove to pretty lyrical individuals over this Little Villain production. It’s definitely something hip hop heads can appreciate. Be on the lookout for more material from our brethren!
