Singles, Albums, EPs, Mixtapes, and Videos that get the HHD thumbs up.
What’s better than a little King Mez? No doubt. A little more King Mez. This isn’t hist cut but it’s his name that drew me in. This is actually a track from Raleigh comrade S.Gold’s forthcoming album, The Storm. All in all it gets down…very laid back with spot on verses. Agent Midi on the beat.
New joint shot over from a former Friday Feature participant (and ill wordsmith) M.A. Cee-Kings. The man is bringing real street narratives to distinguish from all the posers. It’s that rugged and rough flow that HHD readers have come to appreciate. I like the vocal sample in the background…sobering.
King Mez brings his unique blend of lyricism, flow, and style to the video format with his single, Monte Carlo. Production is done by long time collaborator, Commissioner Gordon. You can find this track off of Mez’s latest album, My Everlasting Zeal.
Swerve is one of my favorite ‘break thru’ artists of 2012. If I was to have a label, without a doubt Swerve would be one of my first signees. He has such a laid back flow but with a great conversational and personal delivery. This remarkable cut is coming off his forthcoming Cold Winters & Warm Whiskey 2. Can’t wait…
Where does the drug trade spawn from? You got it…just look at the title. It’s more than just an acronym. Not too many people bring their bars any more real than Nutso. Check out his latest EP, Behind These Bars.
Keeping up with our Friday Feature series, we are bringing you yet more music from Peet Caliber, the super talented New Jerz emcee that definitely needs to get his due. You can’t tell me he isn’t nice with his! New Jerz Giant Part Deux is one of those ‘no hook, go for delf’ joints. Production comes courtesy, once again, from Luv Jonez. Give this man his props, he most definitely deserves them!
I am not sure who Megadon is but his team put together a dope video. He takes you back to the Land Of Kings on this one. It’s a dope track with a dope lineup that features Tragedy Khadafi and who else…none other than Shabaam Sahdeeq who has appeared on perhaps more tracks than anyone in 2012.
I am not sure where this joint might wind up so enjoy it while it’s fresh…
It’s trippy…trippy. Who knew that Reef The Lost Cause was dropping a project this year? I sure did not. This joint is off the new record entitled Reef The Lost Cause Is Dead. The dope production comes courtesy of Caliph-NOW. Really nice work there. Can’t wait to hear more! New record dropping on Christmas, so while my kid is unwrapping Christmas gifts…I can be DLing dope music!
