This is the last single before Mic Handz drops his SAYYOUAINTKNOW: The Software project. That’s going to drop this Thursday at some point and should be dope. Meanwhile, to the track at hand, we have a collaborative joint featuring the incomparable Sean Price and produced by Nickel Plated. It’s got brazen rhymes and powerful production so I will insist you give it a listen.
Craig G – Originality (Video)
Craig G debuts the first video off of his album from late last year, Ramblings Of An Angry Old Man. The premise is simple and repeated several times:
Originality is a must…
Check the album people. This man is a legend who is still bring raw hip hop flavors.
Single You Out: Gensu Dean & Planet Asia – Chuck Berry (ft. Shawn Pen)
Good gawd! This is the joint of the moment. It’s got tons of flavor with Gensu Dean preparing a proper beat, and Planet Asia and Shawn Pen applying the applicable verbals to the arrangement. I am really looking forward to their forthcoming album, Abrasions. Although realistically anything that has Planet Asia’s name attached to it is bound to be dope without any exceptions to the rule thus far.
Apollo The Great – Above The Sky (Video)
These are the first visuals off of Apollo The Great’s Hennessy Diaries. Hennessy Diaries was the Album Of The Year hear on HHD and I think it’s quality is easy to see using this song as an example. Just really great execution….
…if the sky’s the limit let’s try to hove above it…
Illmaculate & OnlyOne – Substance Abuse (Video)
This video is for a track off on Illmaculate and Lawz Spoken’s most recent project, CHRON: Legacy (ft. OnlyOne). The production from Lawz Spoken is equivalent to stalking music which is perfect to set the tone for this video. The video itself is on some “assassin vs. assassin” type ish. Really dope song. Check out the EP!
Single You Out: Swerve – Pay Day: You Trippin’ (prod. D-Rock)
This is the third installment of Swerve and SYG’s Payday Series. Steadily dropping dope material. Just really smooth verbs and nouns from Swerve dropped over some D-Rock production.
Cold Winters And Warm Whiskey drops on February 21st
Frank Ramz – Icons (Prod. Charlie Hilton) (Video)
“The clothes, and the hoes, and the bottles, and etcetera / Society got muthaphuckas afraid to be regular…”
Frank Ramz drops one of the most poignant tracks in the last couple of years. I can’t deny it. This song is impeccable as is the video. I mean the imagery, though simple, is perfect to impart the message. Ramz in the noose is something you won’t soon forget.
His new EP, Medicine Filled Candy will be available soon. If you are looking to hear more from him, you can check out my previous review for his album, Quite Frankly.
Single You Out: Big O – Warriors Way (Ft. Godilla and Pryme Prolifik)(Prod. by 4th Assassin)
Man, if you are still sleeping on Big O, I got nothing left for you. You can search his name on this blog and see him featured numerous times and they were ALL dope. This time we get a collaboration with another of my favorite artists at the moment, Godilla. It does not disappoint. This track is off of his forthcoming album, Gravel Engagement.
Single You Out: The Returners – What’s Going On (ft. Torae x Ruste Juxx)
Poland’s favorite sons are making new music and I have to say it’s knocking hard. This production might put a crimp in your neck you’ll be nodding so hard. And what do you do with a hard beat? You put too of the rawest spitters available to spit heavy bars and that’s exactly what Torae and Ruste Juxx do. Body the beat…
I have looked for some information on an album from The Returners and have come up with goose egg. If someone knows about a project they have in store, can you let a brother know? Appreciated.
Single You Out: Curly Castro – My Beloved (ft. Open Mike Eagle)
Curly Castro and Open Mike Eagle join forces over this Ricky Radio produced joint. It’s a joint steepened in bass and sour diesel. You get the drift. I am not sure if this is on the forthcoming Fidel album…but that is on tap soon…
