This is a collaboration project between rappers Nieve, Noah King, and A-dub, and producer Soulchef. I really like the way this sounds. Soulchef is crafting a jazzy-bluesy-hiphop production that sounds oh so good to the ears. I can’t wait to hear more of it.
Single You Out: Whosane – Move (prod. by Eric Lau)
Can I get a “Holy Hot Damn” for this track! Wow. This track is one of the most complete cuts I have heard this year. The beat by Eric Lau, although it has an Asian appeal to it, is other wordly. But Whosane…wow…what can I say? These are some of the best bars assemble by one man for one track. His album, Brooklyn To Cape Town is not dropping soon enough with a June 16th release date.
“opposite of monotonous, do you know who you rocking with?” We know now my friend. We know now.
Swerve & SYG – Pay Day EP (2013)
Album: Pay Day EP
Source: Artist
Tracklisting:
Note:
This is a compilation of tracks from Swerve & SYG’s Pay Day series. I am glad that they compiled this together so folks can get it all in one swoop. I am not equipped to speak on particular songs but wanted to get this up on the site so you guys could get to it.
Hopefully you have all seen my previous posts on Swerve & SYG. If you have then you already know how highly I think of their music. So from here I am going to let their Press Release spell out the nuts and bolts:
The ‘Pay Day EP’ is the 3rd project released by Swerve & SYG, the previous one being only a couple months prior with Cold Winters & Warm Whiskey 2. The ‘Pay Day EP’ was created to wrap up a Swerve & SYG series titled ‘Pay Day’ which happen to drop on the 1st & the 15th each month. The two have been releasing solo songs alternate of each other twice a month since January of this year. They have added 3 entirely new Swerve & SYG songs as well as remixed previously released Swerve songs like ‘No Lifeguard On Duty‘ & ‘Somethings Gotta Give‘ to include SYG. Find out more info on Swerve & SYG by going to www.swerve916.com.

Co$$ – Blasphemy in Babylon (prod. DJ Mentos)

Very few people approach religion as unabashed as Co$$. He does it without being abrasive but really sets the table for the listener to think. He is a keen observer and a thinking man which really sets him apart. That, and he is an extremely gifted emcee. Black Hockey Players is set to drop soon and I will provide more information on that as it becomes available. DJ Mentos is on the boards.
Single You Out: Kourvioisier – Write Brothers (ft. Thee Tom Hardy) (prod. K-Hill)
K-Hill show us a little bit of Dragnet with this beat as Kourvioisier and Thee Tom Hardy give the listeners the business on the microphone. I might have heard of Kourvioisier before, but I am not sure if I truly heard him before. He sounds dope and now is a good time to get up on what he has to offer us musically. He has a new album dropping on April 30th entitled, Cable In The Classroom.

Single You Out: SciFi Stu – Crackz (ft Junclassic & King RA)
New joint from supa-producer SciFi Stu. It’s heavy on the drums, keys, and dope, chopped up samples. This is one of the more boom bap cuts I have heard from Stu. It doesn’t hurt that you have two deep and gruff voices flipping flows over the track in Junclassic and King RA.
Dopping it heavy…
Poe Mack – Mistaken Fortune (ft. Rhaaz) (Prod by D.R.U.G.S. Beats) (VideO
Wow. This is just plain good music. There is a lot to love about this track. D.R.U.G.S. Beats puts together a dandy of a beat that sounds like it was based in piano bar. Poe Mack rides the beat effortlessly, keeping his head in the game and his eyes on the prize. Rhaaz puts the icing on the cake with some perfectly laid vocals. This was orchestrated really well to say the least. Don’t you agree?
Single You Out: Sommy Lovell – Population: 1
We featured a Sommy Lovell song back in December called Amelia. That’s kind of a big deal because we have not been featuring a whole lot of new artists. It’s because a lot of new artists aren’t doing the type of music we like. But Lovell’s got the recipe for making good music. He’s also producing his own music which is a bit of a change up.
I never asked for acceptance, I was cool pariah
Need I say more. I say hop on board this train before it becomes a God forsaken bandwagon.
Stryfe and Marc Byrd – Organ Donor (ft. Miz Korona & Skorpion) (Video)
I missed this one as it came straight from the butcher’s shop. Stryfe authors up a certified banger with an assist from Miz Korona. Some great lines embedded in these flows and I am looking forward to Stryfe’s project dropping come some time in May. I hope to get a solid date on that soon.
If anyone at all it not up on Local-Mu12 artists they need to get familiar because it’s this camp that’s set itself apart from the others starting last year.
Ivory Gates – The Wonder Years (Video)
I am really not sure who comprises Ivory Gates but I like the sound. I am also not sure about the concept of a “Video EP” but I suppose in a world of cookie cutter emcees/producers any differentiation is good.
