Smif-N-Wessun sounding ever so good over this production from Cartune Beatz. I first became familiar with Cartune Beatz with his project with RJ Payne last year. The producer personifies the term “banger” and Smif-N-Wessun have been known to embrace a banger or two. This is definitely something that hits hard.
Single You Out: Werdperfect – Brimstone (ft. Eto) (prod. By Dub Sonata)
Werdperfect is not a name that I am overly familiar with but this new single, Brimstone, he is bound to raise some eardrums. And with Dub Sonata on the production you are off to a terrific start. And then you add a verse from Eto, and you are REALLY cooking. But come to find out…Werdperfect’s pen game is pretty damn good! The drums knock heavy as does the blending of wordplay and wisdom. Lot of bars that you can feel and relate to.

Sometimes I just miss it. I missed this. Cambatta has a track on his project, Holy Ghost III. That had my eyes wide open because of just how dope it is. God Is Mad is written from the perspective of God and his anger and disappointment in humanity. And it couldn’t be done at a better time. Relevant and so incredibly dope. Get ready to rewind this over…and over…and over.
L.I.F.E. LONG & S Eyes Finest – No Gun Control feat. DJ Afar (Video)
L.I.F.E. Long has been a hip hop staple for decades and he’s still delivering dope music and dope messages. Here he links up with producer S Eyes Finest to deliver a commentary on guns in society. A very serious topic as we are inundated with violence all around us. The emcee and producer do a great job on shedding light through hip hop.
Single You Out: Bozack Morris – Blood In Blood Out (ft. Asun Eastwood & Lex Talionis)
Not enough people are talking about this new project from Bozack Morris, The Toronto Tape, so I am compelled to put you up on it. Morris put some legit bangers together with some of Toronto’s very best and the results are irrefutably dope. And this one featuring Asun Eastwood and Lex Talionis is my favorite. Cue the church organ and lets unleash some damnation. Asun drops some ungodly hard bard on this … love it.
Single You Out: Swollen Members – Triple Aces
Whoa! New Swollen Members?!?! Say it’s so…and apparently it is.Prevail, Madchild, and Rob The Viking are apparently making new music again, and that’s a breath of fresh air. I loved these guys when they were at their zenith. Balance is in my mind a classic album. I know others will disagree but that was a game changer when it dropped in 1999.
Let us hope that there is new music in store for the listener in the future.

M-Dot links up with the great Grand Puba for his latest track, Run Along. The song is set to be featured on his forthcoming album. Daze Of Greed. Production comes courtesy of The Mighty V.I.C. And he give this song a bluesy twang to it, that I just love. M-Dot and Grand Puba both lace some sweet sixteens that you can follow along in the video. Social consciousness done in the freshest of ways.

DJ Muggs & Mooch – Trumpets (Video)
Da Cloth and Soul Assassins unites once again when Mooch and DJ Muggs link up for the new single, Trumpets, which is also off of their forthcoming album, Rock Star.
I love the idea of a storied LEGEND in the game (Muggs) linking up with rising and undeniable talent (Mooch). He’s done it with Rigz, Rome Streetz, and a host of others, and now Mooch get his impeccable production for his pen game. A great match and pairing. This track delivers and the album undoubtedly will too.

Maze Overlay continues his musical surge from last year into 2004, this time on a mellow and ethereal 2oona Beatz production. Overlay goes in on the superficial trends in music, when only the finest will do.
