Rome Cee’s Earthside album is real.  It may even top my previous favorite in his discography, Grey Area.  illMeasured (good to hear from you my man) hit me with this gem and trust me when I tell you that this joint is indicative of the effort of the entire album.  Really superb material.  The beat and the verses meld into a pot of greatness…enjoy.

Single You Out: Scribbling Idiots – Old Heads (feat. muzeONE, Wonder Brown & BlackBolt)

The Scribbling Idiots are back together and making that good hip hop music.   This is a crew that is well-rooted in the hip hop fundamentals and have a since appreciation for the culture.  They are also prone to making either thought provoking music or uplifting joints.  I think this qualifies as the latter of the two.  At any rate, this track is just the sampler of what lies ahead when the crew drops their album, Invitation Only.

Single You Out: The 17th – God’s Away on Business (Feat Elise 5000)

17th

I am honored to be the first to bring to you The 17th’s new single, God’s Away On Business.  I interviewed The 17th last year because the man’s writing skills are of the next level variety.   He also does his own production and his beats are on par with some of the best names in the business.   So when something new drops from the man, I want HHD to be at least a small part of it.

God’s Away On Business is bound to turn more than just a few heads.   While not necessarily refuting personal belief systems, The 17th does make an interesting and well made case to turn those systems on their head. He provides a number of different analogies to make his points, controversial though they may be.  He addresses the difficulties in believing in someone he has never seen just because society feels compelled.   Check this small snippet of the song:

Oh God, dear God, I hope that you exist. So i can live my life with purpose and with happiness. And when I put my hands together and I pray to you, please dont have something else to do. To you, from me, to you.

This song is the first single from The 17th’s forthcoming project, Inside Jokes With Complete Strangers.  Stay tuned.

Pawz One – Bringing It Back (ft. Self Provoked) (Video)

Oh?  You didn’t have that neck brace handy?   Cuz you are going to need the chiropractor for this song right here.  I am a little late on this, but in truth, just in time for when Pawz One drops his album,  Face The Facts.   I know this album is going to make a statement for 2014.  There’s no question about that.  I have heard a couple of cuts from it at this point and each of those joints was certified.  In regards to this joint, producer Default, put his name in the hat for beat of the year.   This production to use the words of the incomparable C-Rayz Walz  is “dumb hot, like retarded group sex”.  Both the emcees bring their unique blend of boom bap to the microphone.  Self Provoked looks incredibly young, but his skill level beguiles his age.  Dope track.   Album drops on Tuesday.

2 Man Cypher – Broken (ft. Koren Jackson)

If this song and video doesn’t get you, you are cold m’fer.   The illest duo making hip hop takes a look at the bottom of the barrel of humanity with their single, Broken.  Sleep and Cocaine Chris are like the ghosts in the room looking at the harm a man can do not only to himself but also his loved ones.  If this song sounded dope to you, then I suggest you peep their new project, Queen City Bastards, because the album is loaded with top choice cuts.
