Tek Bully is back at it for 2014 and dropping off his lead single to his forthcoming mixtape, All Else Failed. I am really enjoying this production from Joe Josh Beats. It’s a different type feel. I am going to go with ‘hi-tech boom bap”. Tek Bully holds it down for this cut just like he did for last album, Bully Shyt. He’s a raw rhymer with a ton of skill so we are definitely go to be on the lookout for that mixtape.
Single You Out: Cas Metah – A Stone’s Throw (feat. Shabazz the Disciple & Hell Razah)
This single was very unexpected. I didn’t know that Cas Metah was coming out with new music, nonetheless working with the likes of Shabazz The Disciple and Hell Razah. This winds up being a very ill collabo with Theory Hazit on the boards and Mista Sinista and EF Cuttin providing the cuts. It really doesn’t get much more hip hop than this.
First Division – B.R.A.W.L. (Brothers Rockin’ All The Way Live) (Produced by Marco Polo) (Video)
First Division just released their second EP, the Critical Path Part 2 today…for FREE. And throughout the song you hear them refer to the True School and you best believe that’s where these guys hail from. They love performing over those boom bap beats just as much as we love hearing them. You can also hear the passion for the art form within these bars and that definitely means something.
Make sure you DL, listen, and support the artist by spreading the word. That’s what it’s all about!
The AbSoulJah – Get Well Soon (Produced By Ugly Tony) (Video)
The AbSoulJah puts it on for the fam in a track dedicated to the health of French producer/collaborator, Ugly Tony. This is my personal favorite track off of The AbSoulJah’s latest album, Dim The Light. It’s just a personal track that represents the boom bap flavor that both Tony and Ab represent.
Single You Out: 7evenThirty – $ Stacks & Body Bags (prod. Gensu Dean)
7evenThirty and Gensu Dean show off their mean streak with their lead single to their album, The Problem. The feel of the production has a southern appeal but there is a dark underdone that lies just beneath the drums and synth, letting you know that danger lurks.
The album drops on July 7th.
Soul Pete – Undisputed Champs (ft. Guilty Simpson and DJAce) (Video)
Oh boy…this is 100% dope hip hop right here. Soul Pete (Poland) and Guilty Simpson (Detroit) come together for the first single off of Pete’s forthcoming album, Soul Raw. This joint screams banger from the first few bars and Simpson is in a zone over this production. And like I always say: A good DJ cutting up a track can make a good song great…so credit DJ Ace for the bump.
SilentSomeone – Rhinoceros Funk (Video)
I was just set to cop SilentSomeone’s new album, I Have Company when I saw this video up for the cut Rhinoceros Funk. After watching the video and listening to this Funk’s rhymes and SilentSomeone’s incredible production, I am sold completely. This song is so ill. The man has a an ill voice as an emcee so in addition to checking the SilentSomeone’s album, I am going to have to surf the
Single You Out: The 17th – Chest Tube
The 17th delivers a single from his forthcoming album, Inside Jokes With Complete Strangers. This song is based off of a real life incident that The 17th went through. The track is all about the struggle to stay alive and then taking that very struggle to learn to appreciate what you have.
The man stays on the cutting edge of making dope music, refraining from the conventional. Enjoy this…
Zilla Rocca & The Shadowboxers – Shoot The Piano Player (ft Has-Lo) (Video)
Few people are as innovative as Zilla Rocca and Has-Lo. These guys just ooze creativity and not settling on the current standard as being good enough. That creativity is on display when it comes to their video, Shoot The Piano Player. It’s unique to see a video show three different scenes simultaneously. It’s something you may have to watch a couple of times which is a good thing.
