The highly underrated Burke The Jurke continues to smite you nonbelievers with more dope music. The Maloiks is from his latest album Ear Responsible which is out now and should be listened to at your earliest possible convenience or get buried in the woods!
Born Allah – Fuck Your Favorite Rapper Pt. II (Video)
This is a video from February that I evident ally missed because I KNOW if I would have seen it then, it would have gotten love immediately. There are hoards of people that feel the way Born Allah does, but he put the words to paper and named some names. There’s no reason to be shy about it. It’s about time people got confrontational about the music and culture they love.
I wish I could get a Born Allah and E-Rule full length…(off topic, but on my mind)
Abstract Rude – Kan Of Whoop Ass (Video)
It’s admittedly been a while since I have checked Abstract Rude’s material. He was an artist that I followed quite a bit in the early 2000s but for whatever reason his music just hasn’t made it into my headphones lately. This song though put him right back, squarely into my iPod. I love the underlying bass line of the production in conjunction with Rude’s lively prose.
Single You Out: Rediculous – Kalashnikov and Kush (ft. Shabaam Sahdeeq, El Gant, Famoso, Bekay)
I love the music Rediculous puts out. He always puts out fantastic beats and tags with the elite emcees in the game. In this case, on Kalashnikov and Kush he gets bars from Shabaam Sahdeeeq (has anyone done more work than him in 2014), El Gant, Famoso, and Bekay. That’s one hell of a line up!
Rediculous’ new album, In Response: Dee-Fi, is due out hopefully soon!
Fel Sweetenberg – The End Of The Book (prod. by DJ Brans) (Video)
This is just one of the man bangers off of Fel Sweetenberg’s latest album, The Invisible Garden which is completely produced by DJ Brans. This time the Dirt Platoon completes the rugged offering by contributing some bars of their own.
Ag Da Coroner- Welcome To My World (prod. by ATG) (Video)
There are originators and impersonators. Care to guess which category Ag Da Coroner falls into? Good answer…originator. Crushed Grapes is a true piece of art from last year that was given the review treatment last year. If you haven’t given that a listen, please do so. Also be on the lookout for his new album, Sip The Nectar, due out this summer.
Single You Out: Gripz – Walk In My Shoes (ft. Marka) (prod. by Anno Domini)
How can you truly judge a man if you’ve never been where he’s been? Good question. You can’t. With the bars contained in this track you can here the intensity and frustration with which this man spits. I have been a fan of Gripz for more than just a few years. He has an unrelenting passion for rocking mics, but if you listen closely to his verses he’s also afflicted with OCD, which at times makes creating music near impossible. He doesn’t shy away from this fact. And while we may never know what that’s like for Gripz, he lets his bars go on this Anno Domini producer banger. Fuel for the fire….
Be on the lookout for Poetic Literature Vol. 3 to be put out on Anno Domini’s label, hopefully in the near future.
Sensei n’ Chillow – Mic Professionals (ft. DJ Grazzhoppa)
Geez. Who better typifies a Microphone Professional that, El Da Sensei? Here’s an emcee that has done it all and is known worldwide but certainly not a guy who rest on his God-given talent. This man works and is always putting out projects. His next project is with Belgian producer Chillow who demonstrates that has total command of the head not effect with this production. This production actually sounds like it was destined for an old Artifact album. It has a nice nostalgic effect.
As soon as we have more information on the album, we will pass it on.
Swollen Members – Power (Video)
The Swollen Members realize that we all crave the ‘power’ and they deliver that message with a high energy track that hits with an impact. This is all a prelude to build the anticipation for their new album, Brand New Day. As an aside, I particularly like The Coup reference that Prevail uses in his verse for us old school heads.
Apathy – Martha Moxley (Video)
Apathy is getting set to drop the album, Connecticut Casual, as this is his third video single. This time Ap incorporates George Michael’s Never Dance Again into the cut. He especially lets that saxophone take over makes this track super smooth which is a stark contrast to his ever sharp lines. For those of you wondering, the namesake of the song, Martha Moxley, was the name of a recently solved murder that is often associated with the Kennedy family.
Album is coming next Tuesday.
