Wow. It’s been a minute since I had seen a Donny Goines project. I am really glad to see he has a new project, Gala, out now. The project is not based upon length (it’s only three tracks long) but more on the potency of the music. The track Settle Down demonstrates Goines’ heartfelt execution over dope rhythms provided by J.Cannon.
Single You Out: Mic Handz x Ali Starr – HD (prod by Cool FD)
Cool FD does his thing by blending soul and boom bap into sublime fusion while Mic Handz and Ali Starr bring their rhymes front in center in the ‘High Definition’ fashion. The two emcees sound like they’ve been rocking mics together for the longest while in truth, this is there first cut. I hope this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes this union of skill. This is most definitely a live track.
Single You Out: DJ Low Cut – 20th Century Fox (ft. Akin Yai , Seneca & Soarse Spoken)
DJ Low Cut sends us a banger posse cut featuring Akin Yai, Seneca, and Soarse Spoken. The track has got the fire beat and features an assortment of braggadocio rhyme styles. I’m not sure what project this track is destined for but even as a stand alone it’s worth it’s weight in gold.
Single You Out: Estee Nack & Purpose (of Tragic Allies) – T.I.M.E.
This is an incredibly dope song from Estee Nack and Purpose from the soon-to-be-released album, 14 Forms: The Book Of Estee Nack. There is so much to love about this track. The production with the piano keys creates a somber soundscape for incredibly introspective lyricism about time and how it relates to our lives. The word weaving and knowledge dropping is certainly a few steps above the rest.
The album drops on June 23rd.
EMC – The Monologue (Video)
Here’s a dope track from EMC’s latest album, The Tonite Show. Remarkable things happen when you combine these lyrical talents with a Diamond D production. The video was filmed in Brazil and the album can be found in stores now. Get on that.
Jedi Mind Tricks – Deathless Light (Video)
The original Jedi Mind Tricks team is back at it again with Stoupe and Vinnie Paz reuniting for their forthcoming album, The Thief and the Fallen. Deathless Light finds the two once again in perfect step crafting some dark and devious imagery.
The new album will hit shelves on June 2nd. Mark it on the calendar.
M-Dot – Today (ft. EMS) (Video)
The EMS crew unites for this video from M-Dot’s latest project, Jake LaDotta. Today is may favorite cut off of the project. It’s a masterpiece of a posse cut. From the production to varying lyrical skills, this joint will have you nodding your head in rhythm with a smile on your face!
William Cooper – Ultimate Spit (ft. Young Zee) (prod. by BP)
William Cooper drops some visuals from his forthcoming album, God’s Will. He’s got some divergent styles cooking on this track with Young Zee’s abrupt flows mixed with his own more fluid delivery. We are anxiously awaiting for his album to hit shelves on May 5th. Make sure you check that.
Single You Out: Coast – I Ain’t Great (ft.Taboo & Skrewtape)
Out of all the new artists I featured around last year, Coast may be my favorite. His album, March First, was full of non stop bangers that still receives a lot of rotation here. Now we have a new cut and the announcement of a new project, #Withoutpapers, which has a ‘coming soon’ tag. I will promote this artist to the fullest as a shining light in a most stale musical world. He brings a lot of energy and skill to the mic. As an extra bonus, another artist making his name felt, Skrewtape, along with Taboo, join him on this track. Stay tuned for more.

Single You Out: Adlib – Destro (ft. Ill Bill) (prod. by Rob The Viking)
Adlib has linked up with Rob The Viking of Swollen Members for his new album, Teenagers From Marz. Adlib has been making great music for years so don’t let this song surprise you. But linking up with Rob The Viking for production definitely should make hay in getting his name buzzing even more. Adlib always has an upfront, no holds bared style, that falls front in center regardless of the production. It’s time people start taking notice. Oh not to be lost on you, this track features Ill Bill.
