Saga – The Strong (Video)

Smooth lyricism are the first couple of words that enter my mind when speaking of Saga’s initial debut on these HHD pages. The music is silky smooth and Saga’s prose are pretty remarkable by today’s standards.  The word play certainly is in abundance.  So the bar is set high for his forthcoming project, From Out of  the Shadows.

Single You Out: Gstats – Symphony (ft. Shatike, Skanks, Shabaam Sahdeeq, and P. General)

I am not going to let this one slip through the tracks (haha).  Gstats just released his project, Syke Ward, and I was one of the first in line to cop it.  First off, Shinigamie Records, has a proven track record of dropping some dope material.  Gstats drops some rough and rugged flows throughout the release, but this posse cut right here, was definitely and ‘oh wow’ moment.

If you are feeling it, make sure drop some scratch on the album.

Grand Opus (Joc Scholar & Centric) – The Key (Video)

Wow.   We featured one of their original singles last year, and now that I see a new video, I am reminded again exactly how dope these guys are.   I love Centric’s production ability.  I still listen to his project from more than a few years ago (shit, five years ago), The Alter Ego.  And as far as Joc Scholar is concerned, I don’t have a lot of material from him, but if this song is consistent with his overall capabilities, he is something special.   I really hope there will be a project in the near future because these guys knocked it out the park with this song.

Single You Out: Grimace Love – Past Life (Cool FD Remix)

I feel like I have featured Grimace Love before on the site, but upon further inspection, maybe not.  At any rate, Cool FD put me on to this remix that he did for the emcee, and to sy this song goes would simply be an understatement.  Cool FD nails it with the horns and the snares, providing a serious head nodder.  Grimace Love has that nice gritty flavor that put this beat to great use.  I liked it enough to check out the album, Strength, which originally dropped in November of last year.

M-Dot – Finish (Video)

The life of an emcee rocking it independently can be anything but glorious and M-Dot has a few words of advice for his contemporaries if they are going to see that finish line.   The moment you think you can’t, you have to simply  push forward.  Ignore the excuses and the reasons you can’t, and suck it up princess…Man up!

Finish is yet another dope track from his latest project, Jake LaDotta.

Eff Yoo – The First Power (Video)

Eff Yoo just released his latest album, Papa Dios, which reminded me that I had never posted about this video.  Truly, the album is Eff Yoo’s most complete to date.   His skill set is becoming more polished and refined, making this album a must listen.   This cut is really just the tip of the iceberg in what you will find in the album.  Bangers on deck!

SIngle You Out: Skrewtape – Go Time

Skrewtape is making moves and it’s easy to see why.  He rides this imperial beat provided by The Wurxs with a certain type of hunger and ferocity that suggests that no one is going to stand in his way towards success.   I’m always on the lookout for more material from this exceptional artists and you should share the same mindset.  Very few are giving the people that grim, gritty, yet lyrical flavor.
