If you are not familiar with Grand Opus, it’s about time you get familiar. Grand Opus is comprised of Joc Scholar and Centric. They dropped two incredibly singles last year and this, their third, hmeans their new album, Forever, is around the corner. Dropping on March 22nd.
Their sound is ill and this time they bring in the mix a couple of heavyweights in Planet Asia and Fashawn.

Eastkoast has more than a couple things going for him when it comes to making music, but perhaps the most important is that, he is unique. His raspy voice is not something you are going to come across too often when listening to hip hop. But he also blends his delivery with creative wordplay and intellect making him a potent force. And with him rocking over this smooth Phalo Pantoja beat, it’s nothing short of immaculate.
Mark April 8th down on your calendar, as that is when Merciless Beauty, their collaborative project drops.
Alright, this video and music has a ton of stuff working for it. First off, it’s innovative beyond belief. The video is so unique it is in of itself a complete work of art. A real shout out to the director, Shane McLellan, for crafting something that stands out as stellar in a world of mediocrity, especially when it comes to videos.
But let’s not lose sight of the dope music. Political Animals have a fresh and enlightening appeal. The drums and the bass line are heavy hitters here and the rhymes are impeccable. All together this is the sure shot heads should be looking for in 2016.
I hope to hear more.
Double Negative dropped this album, Krackatoa, not that long ago and it’s important that you give this album a chance. It’s incredibly ill. As a matter of fact, it could be my favorite from this year, at this point. The production is down right sinister and the emcees consistently deliver dense lyrics with tight interwove wordplay.
The Medicine Doesn’t Work Here, is an eery track that addresses the ills of society that are torn beyond repair. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.
When Snake Hollywood drops a new song, heads should take notice. This man bends the English language to his whim and makes it seem effortless. The production has a very surreal vibe to it, but the lyricism from Hollywood and compadre, Dave East, slap those ear drums hard. As Hollywood puts it:
Don’t take my civilized nature as some soft shit…
Nor sir, no sir…not never. Be on the lookout for more music. It’s been too long.
Uncle Sam is someone I have featured a couple of times on the blog and was perhaps one of my first few feature on the site when we started five year ago. Every time I hear a song from him, I hear a little more polish and refinement in the music. Pioneering Burdens is simply put a dope song. The production features a dope beat with scathing symbols and a hook that reels you in. Uncle Sam’s flow and lyricism sounds very much on point.
This track is taken from his EP, Get Off My Lawn.
Site favorite, Gripz, drops off another banger in which he unleashes the Gates of Hell on his competitors. Eventually, you all will catch on. The man consistently delivers heat rocks.
Still waiting on the full project though.
I was using the ‘Discover’ feature on Bandcamp and came across this release from The Neighbors. The project seems to be pretty dope, but this song, Hug A Hater, is a stand out. Please check it out!
Warlock Cult is the latest single from Klive Kraven produced by Tha Soloist. Kraven is knocking over your chess board and running the game. Even though his name hasn’t quite made it’s rounds through other blogs, but I certainly think he is nice with the mic. He does add a little sadism, which adds to his unique style.

News At 11 is a track off of DJ Ready Cee’salbum, Order 66. This track is all sorts of dope. Spit Gemz and Shabaam Sahdeeq drop all sorts of knowledge with regards to the food that we eat, socio-economics, and politics. There’s a lot of material being dropped in two sixteens over a villainous beat from Ready Cee.
