Black Earth – Sicker Than Your Average (Video)

Kaimbr is back with a new project backed with production from Howard B Knoxz. And let me tell you, this album straight bangs on a different level than what you are used to. The sound is boom bap infused with funk and precise samples and cutz. And when you fuse that with Kaimbr’s lyrical talents, you have a sound that might be unrivaled. Every song from this project is a gem. There is dopeness in consistency.

Kaimbr dropped The Alexander Green Project nine years ago, and that is one of my favorite albums…ever. And this one just might surpass that effort. After a couple of spins I hear no flaws and only excellent execution!

The new album, Blunt Force Trauma, is out now and you shall not regret it purchase!

All Natural – What’s Real (ft. J.U.I.C.E. and DJ Rhettmatic) (Video)

If you are remotely familiar with Chicago hip hop you are going to know what legends are in this video.  All Natural, has been a staple in scene for decades, and here they are teaming up lyrically with none other than the incomparable J.U.I.C.E who has a very storied career.  These artists prove beyond doubt that they still carry not only the torch for their city but hip hop in general.   Add to the fact that they have Panik on the boards and DJ Rhettmatic on the tables…this track has legendary written all over it.

Coming from the EP, Dark Night, which I believe still has yet to be released, but can’t wait!

Cambatta x Apollo Brown – Nightmares (Video)

Cambatta & Apollo Brown – Nightmare (Video)

Good lord! Wow. This shit is dark and nasty. Extremely crazy on all levels to be sure. Cambatta has a raw, unique, and commanding flow about him. The way his mind unravels into his poetry is something to behold and when given the visual element here, I think it gives yet more texture. And to be honest, I would not have been able to call this as an Apollo Brown beat. Which makes it all the more amazing. This is a stand out track for 2020.

The Shelter – Deadlift b/w Magic Johnson (Video)

Wow.   I was caught off guard by this and really am not up to par on The Shelter.   But they made an indelible impression.  The combination of tracks on this video single, Deadlift and Magic Johnson, really prove a point that their project, Opus, is something we ALL need to check out.  I haven’t listened to the album yet but I did cop it.   It’s also put out by Soul Spazm and that label has never done me wrong.
