Second single off of UllNevaNo and GodSenseBeats’ project, The Ghost Of Reggie Lewis. Funk is arguably the best track off the album (although we gave Raekwon’s Table the nod in our Top 50 list). Definitely provides that funky bassline and heavy drums to let UllNevaNo and J Scienide drop that electric word play over. Another pure hip hop song for your enjoyment.
Single You Out: Will4Prez x Hobgoblin – The League
This is your “aha moment” thus far in 2023. Will4prez and Hobgoblin unleash a project no one may have been anticipating but you are going to start hearing more and more about. This project, Bar Barracks is going to put the hip hop world on notice. The beats from Hobgoblin are punishing, and equal to the task is Will4prez. It’s incredibly impressive and potent. The wordplay is superlartive. This is a rewind, front to back, kind of an album.
The League might be my favorite track from the album, but tough to say, that could change. What I do know is that you will be wow’d. Check it!
Mic Bles X Level 13 – Corner Store (ft. O The Great And XP The Marxman) (Video)
Mic Bles and Level 13 drop some pretty slick visuals for their single, Corner Store. The beat is so smooth, and Bles along with O The Great and XP The Marxman drop their sixteens in effortless fashion. The song really jives cohesively, and production of the video was really a job well done. Dope all the way around!
This song is off of the latest album, Saints With No Halos.
Willie The Kid & V Don – COLD SHOULDER (Video)
Willie The Kid and V Don continue their brillian collaborative efforts with the release of their new porject, Blue Notes 2. And you always know that Willie The Kid is standing out and not standing in. He has a brand all unto himself. His wordplay and flow are highly distinguished which makes that V Don pairing special, because as a producer, his sound is also ears apart. Enjoy!
Bobby J From Rockaway & Nef – 7182313 Interlude (ft. Hush) (Video)
This is one of my favorite tracks of the year thus far. I listen to this one on repeat. Nef did his thing on pairing this classic sample and looping it with some hitting drums. Really impressive how he turned this into a cohesive and addictive beat. Bobby J and Hush carry this joint with an equal amount of charisma to make this a song to remember though the year and beyong.
You can find this cut on Bobby J From Rockaway and Nef’s new project, Radio Days.
Isaac Castor – Eye See (prod. by Foul Mouth) (Video)
I think there’s already a second video to their new album, The Rabbit Hole 2, but this was the first one from emcee Isaac Castor and producer Foul Mouth. It’s a chill vibe that just kind of glides through the eardrums and allows to focus on Castor’s wordplay. We will be posting the other single very soon.
M-Dot & Revalation – Jump Start (Grazzhoppa Remix) (Video)
M-Dot and Revalation bring that exquisite lyricism over a DJ Grazzhoppa rendition of the track, Jump Start. And you know you are getting 100% hip hop with this combination.
Single You Out: WateRR x Lupara – Whenever The Drama Came (ft. Bohemia Lynch x Defcee)
I am a huge fan of WateRR. He has a very impressive discography as it stands. But this upcoming album with the production collective Lupara, Compendium Of Arcanum, is shaping up to be his best work to date. I really love this track, Whenever The Drama Came. This beat from Bohemia Lynch, the lyricism from WateRR and Defcee, and the chorus that binds, makes this a great listen.
Thunny Brown – Bar Work (Video)
Bar Work….yes Thunny Brown delivers on the namesake of this track with some serious street talk and a thunderous flow. This is not for you fancy lads, but this for that head nod effect. The beat is more than just proper and Thunny has some great wordplay and flow. This track appears on the album from 2020, Heavenly Sword. I might have to check that out.
You failed to plan and built your castle on the sand
Dope line.
