I was privileged enough to get an advance copy of the album, FIDEL. And let me tell you…whooo-whew! This is going to be a true gem of 2013. There’s some classic material involved. Coal is also one of my favorite tracks from the album. Georgia Anne Muldrow’s beat is subtle yet somehow hooks you. Curly Castro and Has-Lo alternate verses with an interesting concept at hand. I think it’s something you need to listen to…
I love the sound of this song. I like how Chaundon in particular associates the indie hip hop scene with the confines of prison. He really goes at the angle that if an indie rappers tries to make moves it’s easy to get labeled, pigeon holed, and left for proverbial dead. Really tight song and some food for thought to boot…
Ahhhh….sh-t…it’s that Nu Revu gang teaming up again. CuzOH! Black and Wordsmith rock over a dark track sponsored by Rafpak. The two are on “my-brother’s-keeper” material. They are two of the most skilled artists in DMV and together they really are delivering some unique sounds.
This is the best track off of JustMe’s latest album, Full Disclosure. It’s that soulful and meaningful hip hop that’s a game changer in today’s cookie cutter environment. It’s always good to hear people dropping music with purpose and intent. Sheisty Khrist’s verse is golden as he takes it to a biblical level. Dope.
This is the last single before Mic Handz drops his SAYYOUAINTKNOW: The Software project. That’s going to drop this Thursday at some point and should be dope. Meanwhile, to the track at hand, we have a collaborative joint featuring the incomparable Sean Price and produced by Nickel Plated. It’s got brazen rhymes and powerful production so I will insist you give it a listen.
Not since MF Doom has this Scooby Doo sample been used so effectively. If you couple that with the Big Pun sample and the dope flows of The Demigodz, you have a sure shot. The album KILLmatic drops March 5th.
Craig G debuts the first video off of his album from late last year, Ramblings Of An Angry Old Man. The premise is simple and repeated several times:
Originality is a must…
Check the album people. This man is a legend who is still bring raw hip hop flavors.
Good gawd! This is the joint of the moment. It’s got tons of flavor with Gensu Dean preparing a proper beat, and Planet Asia and Shawn Pen applying the applicable verbals to the arrangement. I am really looking forward to their forthcoming album, Abrasions. Although realistically anything that has Planet Asia’s name attached to it is bound to be dope without any exceptions to the rule thus far.
These are the first visuals off of Apollo The Great’s Hennessy Diaries. Hennessy Diaries was the Album Of The Year hear on HHD and I think it’s quality is easy to see using this song as an example. Just really great execution….
…if the sky’s the limit let’s try to hove above it…
