From Da Streets is a new single from Dro Pesci’s forthcoming album , Groundhog Day, which is dropping on February 2nd. And here you get what you would expect, some gritty street narratives from Pesci, Ruste Juxx, and Nems, over a beat with a piano riff created by Vic Grimes that makes you think of Halloween the movie. Ill shit right here!
Termanologyhas a new album out, More Politics, and It’s Quiet derives from that project. Term discusses life in the streets and life as a musician over a piano laced banger from Dame Grease.
It’s a Cincinnati/Atlanta connection when Jermisideand L-Marr that Starteam up for the song/video, Ours. The song to me is pretty impactful when considering the surrounding world and what has taken from people at the hands of an election, the police, etc. This is a reclamation of what is owed to the masses. They can’t take it all away!
New project, God Bless The Child, dropping on December 2nd.
I forget what cut I heard Jake Palumbo rock on that made me check for him, but here he is with a new cut/video, Exoskeleton, off of his new album, Jake It Till You Make It. This track is tough featuring heavy hitters Ruste Juxxand Tek. I copped the album but haven’t given it a full listen, but given the strength of this cut and some of his guest shots, I am expecting a win.
Wow. I am so glad Ras Kass dropped something with regards to the election because he is the absolute right person to articulate what happened and what this means for our country. This is not only the most powerful song of this election period, but perhaps for the last several years. He addresses the apathy of not voting in the election. He addresses the hate different segments of the population used when it came to voting. In the end, it was hate that inspired and apathy that derailed.
“Trump won with less votes than McCain and Romney who both lost, so blame yourself when your Civil Rights get fucked off!”
“Claim to be the beacon of the world, Liberty’s Flame, you just a nation of bigots, we should all be ashamed.“
I didn’t realize that Only had dropped a new project until Illmaculate put it out there on Twitter. But once I found out about Royalties, I was all over it. There’s something about this guy’s rhyme style, cadence, and delivery that I identify with. He’s got a unique way of flipping words and meanings. Then you’ve got production from Chase Moore all over the project. His ear for beats and samples is impeccable, as he concocts nothing but winners. You can hear that victory on this track, Toxic.
If you find it dope, drop by the Bandcamp, show some love and pick up the album.
Soarse Spoken has a pretty ill song here from his album, Rawcentricity. I am not sure who is responsible with the production, but it’s very well done. I love the texture of sounds. I also love Spoken’s detailing as to what it means to be exploited as an artist and encouraging listeners to support their music. Using the visual analogy of a vampire community coming after “fresh meat” is another dope way of conveying the point. Props!
LX-Beats drops some smooth violence with this new single featuring Mayhem, Alyssa Marie, Revalation, and Deacon The Villain on the mic. You also get track-blesser, DJ Grazzhoppa, chopping up the cuts on the joint. The production is laid back and mellow, which leaves the emcees to each fire off reasons why they are not to be tested. All of the bars are dope, but Rev really brings a ton of intensity to his verse, only to be contrasted with the slick bars of Deacon The Villain. There’s lots to like about this joint!
Stray Missles is a track from Little Vic’s latest compilation project, Wikileaks. This track features a random assortment of fire from Little Vic’s arsenal as doe the project in it’s entirety. We’ve been featuring music from Vic from the beginning and that’s not stopping anytime soon. The project is $5 and is a veritable steal for hip-hop connoisseurs such as myself.
The Flying Dutchman just released an album, Foul Weather, on Friday entirely produced by professional head-knocker, Vanderslice. In addition to Vanderslice, the team is comprised of emcees John Murdock and Lex Starwind. In addition to bars from those two, you also get a dope verse from Cappadonna. The sample used by Vanderslice is nasty, and I love that beat.
If you like those hard rhymes and banging beats, you need to get your hands on this release.
