Note:

I could not let this release slide without giving it some mention as I think it’s some of the best material I have heard from Reef in a while.  Dumhi laces a variety of beats that all sound incredibly refreshing to these tired ears of mine.

Dumhi and Reef have been making tracks for a long time and this project is a culmination of some of those efforts.

The cut, B. Dawk was released late last year but I am not sure I heard it, and I certainly regret not posting it (or did I?)  because the joint is fire.   The production snaps with a snare and relaxes you with the strings.  Reef maintains a direct connection with the track for the entire duration.  He never loses that timing.  He’s that Philly legend and has no qualms in letting you know the truth:

Am I the best?  That’s for you to decide / But as far as Philly, I’m top five dead or alive / And that is not up for debate / Cuz my desire can be described as nothing but great / I do this for my home / I do this on my own / I’m B. Dawk, I’m Randall, I’m Reggie, I’m Jerome…

On Moonshine, Dumi brings in that bluesy harmonica to set the tone for the rest of the track and then fuses it together perfectly with the boom bap. Reef, again not to beat a dead horse, seems to be destined for this track.  This is a home brewed special concoction of dopeness.

SOS shows you the diversity of dumhi’s ear for a dope beat.  Just as he used the harmonica in Moonshine to give you a bluesy feel, he uses a somber guitar as the backdrop for Reef to display his storytelling ability.  And display that ability, he does.  You are actually seeing a scene taking place on Snyder in South Philadelphia through the eyes of Reef.  It’s vivid and so descriptive you can actually hear the sirens.

Dumhi University is a Philadelphia showcase of emcees who know how to wreck a dope beat when it is given.   This production has a definite Spanish flair.  It’s a posse cut that you will not soon forget.  I would pay special attention to Ethel Cee’s verse.  Stupid nice.

Sirens On Snyder is a true hand-in-glove affair. As a matter of personal opinion, Reef The Lost Cause sounds his absolute best  over this production.  Every track hits home and there is nothing to be found disappointing.  At $5 this is one of the better values to be found.  Cop it.
